Borders ran out of his "The Assassin: A Novel" before Col. North and Neil Cavuto arrived. Then, about 45 minutes later, before they arrived , the store announced that they had more copies of his book to sell.
Neil Cavuto was the primary speaker, when they arrived. He apologized for arriving late, and then Col North said a few words. Neil said they needed to start signing books and Col. North waived me over to the table to start the signings.
I was the first to have my books signed by Col. Oliver L. North. I was extremely honored to shake his hand and thank him for his service. The news camera was there and there were more people than I could count, buying his book.
As I walked away from Oliver North's table, I noticed three 'Useful Idiots' with small signs taped to their chest and back. They were quiet and skillfully placed to be a backdrop for the camera.
Someone later said that they were paid to show up at this event. They also said that they told the camera man that he needed pictures of the numerous military personnel in uniform getting their books signed by Col North, and that their choosing demonstrators as a backdrop was why that CBS, ABC, and NBC wasn't allowed on their home TVs (banned through family profiles on cable or satellite preferences). They said that they asked the camera man what his company's ratings were compared to FOX, but the camera man didn't answer. Well, a great time was had by all, and I was really surprised how tall and large Mr. Cavuto was, but both men were very polite, and very engaging with the crowd.
Ya'll should've been there. But there will be other book signings.

Atlanta!! I can't wait!
I won't get to the book-signing, but I do intend to get the book. I already own the first two, and I enjoyed them thoroughly. The end of "Jericho Sanction" just screamed for a follow-up, and Oliver North has made me a happy reader by providing it.
This interests me about "Assassins": North's novels have a quasi-historical setting for their unhistorical events. Remember? In "Mission Compromised", the president is said to loathe the military, and sloppiness and informality are rife in the White House. These facts were true of the Clinton Administration. I've wondered how this would continue in the last book with its Bush-era timeline. In the part of the excerpt I read, the president is said to be very punctual, and opens a meeting with prayer. Everyone knows George Bush is punctual, and I believe he opens Cabinet meetings with prayer. The extent of this quasi-historical portrayal will interest me very much.
Has the Dallas signing already happened and, if not, will Neil be there?
The first two books of the trilogy were excellent, clean books.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
