Rush limbaugh needs to go back to DU! He's no conservative!

(now let's wait for the personal attacks on Rush to commence...many of them coming from self-proclaimed Christians)

If Rush Limbaugh harbors any misgivings or concerns about this nomination whatsoever -- no matter how considered; regardless of foundation -- HE ISN'T A REAL CONSERVATIVE!

Michelle Malkin disagrees with this nomination? Then: SHE ISN'T A REAL CONSERVATIVE!

Ann Coulter disagrees? SHE ISN'T A REAL CONSERVATIVE, EITHER!

George Will? The conservative activist attorneys over at Powerline? The entire editorial staff of The National Review? FILTHY, STINKING FALSE CONSERVATIVES, ALL OF THEM!

Only those who bow and pay homage before the grand and glorious Harriet Miers [Insert Angelic Choir Here] are REAL CONSERVATIVES, ultimately! That is the sole, true litmus test of modern conservatism: "Are you Pro-Harriet... or are you (soulless, unwashed heathen) ANTI-Harriet, instead...?"

There. Hopefully, I've just saved the cheerleaders and pom-pom wavers the time and effort of informing us all, for the nine hundredth and ninety-second time, that anyone/everyone disagreeing with this nomination, for whatever reason, is -- in actual point of fact -- the illegitimately whelped progeny of Michael Moore and Hillary Clinton. Presumably, they will forgive me for (accurately) summarizing their arguments, in doing so.

I guess that makes Harry Reid a real conservative. ;-)

Just what issue that might come before the Court is about to impact you personally?

OMG...are you serious?!

Using their logic? Definitely. :)

No, wait!

Haven't you heard?

Reid is LDS.

A devout Mormon, who's pro-life, no less!

Trust me.

Neither did the Senate who approved him.

Harriet Meirs will be approved too.

Wrong, it is important for all of us to know her, and then let our Senators know how we feel they should vote, either for or against.

For some of us, that's pointless.

Harriet Miers will make the same kind of responses. Roberts reply could not have been anything else. The questions are predictable and so are the responses. Candidates as smart as Roberts and I think Harriet Miers too just aren't going to screw up when being questioned by light weights like Schumer, Kennedy and rino Arlen Specter.

John G Roberts, Jr has been known to conservatives for a very long time. I remember him being nominated by George H.W. Bush to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in 1992 because I thought he was so young to be so wise and accomplished. Then he was renominated to the same spot by Bush 43 early and he was filibustered. Finally in 2003 they had his hearings and he was spectacular and he took the bench at that time.

Nobody outside the the President's and Miss Miers immediate circle know anything about her. It is only natural that Conservatives feel blind sided and betrayed when the likes of Luttig, McConnell, Brown, Owen, Alito, et. al have established themselves before the public so well.

I thought I was addressing Huck. He dismissed my priorities and said his was the Court as being the most important thing in his life.

Harriet Meirs will be approved too.

Unless she really bombs and appears to be incompetent, then I think you are right.

for some of us, it's important, because we have two senators on the judiciary committee.

Not that I like them, but they're on there.

Brown would have been my pick but I didn't get to pick. Nothing wrong with questioning the Pres judgement in his choice but Harriet Miers is the woman of the hour now, there aren't any other options.

That's not fatalism, that's reality.

Like the personal attacks on Miers coming from so-called Christians?  Like those ones or different?

I have to think back to the Buchanan Brigade days to remember a time when FR behaved so childishly.

The question really should never be what a nominee believes. That is irrelevant with reference to the law. The question should be whether they understand the law and the Constitution intelligently enough to know that SCOTUS has been inventing laws and reading quack liberal social science back into the Constitution (particularly in crackpot rulings like Roe vs. Wade). It is an intellectual matter of how people understand the Constitution. That the U.S. Constitution does not grant a universal "right" to take the life of unborn humans indiscriminately throughout the nine months of development including infanticidal murder as in "partial-birth" abortion is a matter of direct knowledge not beliefs. Quack wacko liberal secular humanists made up the "right to abortion" in their deranged fantasies during the sordid 1970s.

It's not going to take a lot of intellect to stay ahead of Schumer, Specter and the drunk fat one.

I for one would welcome the dems trying a filibuster, it's time to put them in their place and let them learn what being in the minority is all about.

I just hope she is strong in the hearings and she can allay all our fears. But I also hope the dust up has gotten the President's attention so that he does not give us Gonzales should get another pick.
