So you think that Coulter resorting to referring to "Bush's boozing" and calling for his impeachment because he had the audacity to select someone other than the handful of names she predetermined to be acceptable deserves respect?

She has forever lost my respect. I've got no problem with her disagreeing with me, but with those two acts she has gone into the enemy camp. Calling the president a drunk and calling for his impeachment is Michael Moore stuff.

It appears some people 's loyalties lie more with a LEADER than with IDEAS.

Such was the end of the Roman Republic.

What the SC needs is a majority of common men who can understand the plain language of the Constitution, and would be loyal to it. Not a bunch of over educated elite boobs who don't know will argue forever about the meaning of "is".

But if you are right about that. That some narrow minded people are upset because her name wasn't on'' their list'' of acceptable names, that to me smacks of elitism and snobbery. Something our side is always accusing the Rats of...........But you may have something there, cause the more I hear some people accuse her of not being up to par intellectually... I think....HOW DO THEY KNOW?! We haven't hardly heard a word out of her mouth yet.......

Why? Because Lifson's article was moronic.

In the same article in which he argues that Ivy-league or strong academic credentials are not important he repeatedly emphasizes Bush's Harvard Business School education.

It was almost satirical.

Bush went to Yale and Harvard for the same reason all parents struggle to send their kids to good schools--because that's where the best and brightest go.

Exactly. Whatever happened to taking time to get to know a topic before jumping to a conclusion.

What I've seen is any positive information that comes out about Miers is dismissed out of hand by people who are dug in to their position, just as it was, at least in the beginning, about Chief Justice Roberts.

Well, what I've learned so far is positive, and there are hearings yet to come. There's no need for a rash decision.

I havent read the column yet, but everyone knows Ann uses dry wit and sarcasm to get her oint across, and bases it on known facts.

By the way, I had a good day at work, and want to stomp the heathen evolutionists..Boot~!

I am taking the low road too, I am very concerned about President Bush's second pick, hell I am still concerned about his first pick.

Where was the BIG fight from the left?

Ditto....my thoughts EXACTLY! I think Ann is the only conservative with the guts to call it like it is.

I am so embarrassed by the arrogant elitism within this party. Who do they think elected this President to begin with?--a bunch of Eastern-establishment Ivy Leaguers who look, act, and live just like they do?

I am so disappointed that these self-serving classists have the microphone. What a bunch of lousy "team players".

Whatever anybody thinks about W's weaknesses and missteps, he deserves better treatment than this.

If it weren't for him, they'd be getting the opportunity to criticize a guaranteed liberal picked by a President Gore or a President Kerry. Guess that's what they really wanted--someone they can see at the tailgates and class reunions.

All you have to do is look at the "coddle the terrorist prisoners" bill that passed with 90 votes in the Senate yesterday to understand that the biggest problem is the RINO's in the Congress.

As they say what's one man's Meat is another man's poison.
Obviously you fall into the first part of that quote.

FWIW, Mrs. Fury saw Ann on O'Reilly last night and said to me "she seems really angry, almost mean". For Mrs. Fury to say that caught my attention.

As an aside, regarding Dr. Miers, I have heard some really specious argurments. Her age for example. She is 60/61? Why is that EVEN an issue? Justice Stevens is 85 AND is a cancer survivor. Age means nothing. Justice S. Minton retired after seven years on the court, Justice C. Whittaker after five years. Justice F. Murphy died at age 59, Justice W. Rutledge died at age 55. I don't believe age is a reasonable factor on which to make a decision as to if someone should be appointed/confirmed to the USSC.

I'm going to wait until the confirmation hearings before I make a decision on if I support her or not. Was she the *best* choice form my perspective? No, but then neither was Chief Justice J. Roberts. That doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a chance to be heard in the Senate.

This strikes me as something he and Ann should be working out behind closed doors and in private.

What a concept! I sure hope Ann attacks my grammer someday so I can work it out with her behind closed doors. ;~))

Howlin wrote: Actually, it appears you CAN speak for President Bush because that is exactly what Brit Hume has said that people in the White House said Bush said to them when they asked him why her. He said it was her BECAUSE he was POSITIVE she won't change once she's on the court.

I did not know that. I avoid television and get most of my news from the internet. I was just using the logic I would use in making a selection if I were in the president's shoes. I guess the CiC and I think alike in many ways. That's almost a frightening thought 8^).

Yes, but her latest book is now out in paperback. So maybe she'll get a sales boost out of it.

I mailed her book, I bought, back to her. She is sounding like a fruit cake and I no longer can agree with her points of few. And, I don't want to be associated with her. When I see her and Laura Ingraham on t.v. I will turn off my t.v.
