Is this the same Athletic Club that one of the previously captured terrorists belonged to?

Cortes went to Mexico many years after Columbus discovered the existence of the Americas. He was quite impressed by Pizzaro's discovery of Peru which made DeSoto the richest man in the world.

But, did I say Cortes, Pizzaro or DeSoto were Jewish? Obviously I didn't. On the other hand, did I suggest that some of these guys might have been Spanish Protestants ~ try digging into that mess of worms, and when you're done explain why one Conquistidore named Carvajal (Pizzaro's half brother) was a priest while another Conquistidore named Carvajal (Pizzaro's cousin) refused absolution prior to his execution.

(BTW, the priest went on to sail down the Amazon from one of its tributaries in the Andean lowlands. His diary is extant. In it he reported on the people who lived there. His report is highly unpopular with environmentalist whackos because he described the Amazon as being heavily populated and farmed, far from the untouched pristine jungle imagined by Ben and Jerry's running dog lackeys.)

Why I did say was that Spain had many tens of thousands of Jews in the period before the Discovery of America. It also had many tens of thousands of descendants of Arabian and North African immigrants who'd come to Spain after the Islamic conquest in the 700s.

Not everybody got kicked out ~ many people accepted the terms set by the Christian king, Ferdinand, and became Christians and stayed.

However, all was not sweetness and light for them in the new combined kingdom so they had every motive to emigrate to the Americas.

This information is public and available in every library, and any history book about Spain from Roman times to General Franco.

You're not crazy at all. I caught the 9/11 coverage just after the first plane hit and at that point they were talking accident.

If I remember correctly, FNC was speculating it was terrorism before the second plane hit. I'll have to check my videotapes to confirm that, but I remember them even discussing the possibility it was Bin Laden. I also remember CNN still claimed it was an accident even after the second plane hit.

Or maybe when they realized that their goal of getting him into the stadium had not been successful, they deemed him useless and detonated his backpack before the Feds could get to him for interrogation purposes.

From what I'm reading the speculation is that the FBI was watching him. If he was unstable and not considered a "real" Muslim (a recruit for their evil deeds) no reason to risk what he knew or how he knew it.

Sicily was, for several centuries, a province in the Islamic Caliphate. As such it was subject to immigration from throughout an empire that stretched from India to Morocco. Not surprising someone whose folks came from India might well look like others whose folks came from the same place Indian people came from.

Then there were the Portuguese colonies in India ~ there was a reverse flow from Europe to those places for several centuries.

Thanks. Also, I was unable to see the mosque photos MizSterious posted, all I got was a series of red X boxes on both of the threads where they were posted.

Now I can't find where they were, to try again to bring them up to see them. Supposedly there were funny captions someone else had posted. I just haven't seen a photo of the mosque at all yet.

Can anyone help? I'll keep looking, but there are so many threads! Thanks.

The "two-fer" approach to bombings was used by Eric Rudolph. He was quite successful at it.

Does anyone really believe Eric wasn't an active field agent for the Islamofascist movement? (other than the FBI, of course).

The first reports out of Norman was that five people were injured. What has happened to those folks? Did they just disappear....oh, I forgot it was misreported by some "substitute" reporter on duty tht weekend for UO/saracasm off

You should send an email back that perhaps if there werent terrorist incidents at OU stadium, you would use your full allotment of football tickets.

Of course, my alma mater University of Washinton used to have 72,000 screaming fans, but now they are down to 50,000 and 22,000 plus empty seats, and 10,000 less season tickets....that is what scandal does to you (and what a successful terror incident might do too!)

The first reports out of Norman was that five people were injured.

An interesting point, if you watch the NewOK Channel 9 video from last night, they go out of there way to mention that 5 people are "involved".

The reporterette is acting in and odd way seemingly dancing around the definition of "involved".

Evidently Hinrich's Blue Continental sat on his apartment's parking lot for days....for all I know it may still be there. I would think the FBI or LE would have impounded that vehicle as a piece of evidence and brushed it for prints from top to bottom, and every which way to Sunday.

But, then, giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were watching to see if any of Hinrich's friends would take the Big Blue Weenie for a joy ride.

Not exactly... I followed up on this the other day. The results of my query (both parts) can be found here:

Thanks! None of the threads have the same keywords, either, so I am missing some each time. I take it, however, there is nothing really new today--but I still want to know about the 9-1-1 tapes' contents.

OT--Barry Cowsill is MIA from NOLA after Katrina--his family is desperately searching for him! Heavens! (They sent him a one-way plane ticket to evac to Los Angeles - to a rehab unit, lol--and he didn't show up!)
