Ann is mostly right. Elitism aside, this is for the Supreme Court, not a municipal judge. Her point is that legal conservatives have spent 25 long years building up to this moment. Then, to have Jimmah 'Dubya' Carter say that Meirs is the "the best, most qualified" he could find is just insulting. Maybe Jimmah should try Google - when he's not turning down the thermostat, pulling on a comfy sweater and telling everyone to drive less. Yup, Dubya is the new Jimmah - and we have him for 3 more years. I wonder if Jeb going to put out a line of Jebby Beer?

Why is it an insult?

Because the Democrats use it. Coulter could have said "25 years ago". No, she has to gratuitously mention Bush's drinking.

She is miming DU in her snarkiness.

Watch the lib-perv language and jokes appear too.

I hate to break the bad news to you, but it was these so-called "conservatives" that you speak of who were FIRST to attack Miss Miers going so far as to speculate on her sexual orientation because of her marital status...you can't get anymore lib-perv than that.

Small people indeed. Fehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

"Need more info 43.6% 699"

This is how I voted. I don't know much about Harriet, tried researching her background last week, before Presidnent Bush nominated her. Came up with very little info. Finding out more about Harriet as the days go on. I will have to trust President Bush's decision for now, I will wait for the hearings, listen to what Harriet has to say and then I can give a more definitive answer. For now, I need more info.

Sometimes even a broken clock is right no?

In your case, the broken clock is telling the right time in the wrong time zone. You need to move it a few zones to the left.

The farce that this appoint is apparent to anyone who is not a blind follower..a conservative uses his God given talents to evaluate all actions of government and his elected representatives..IF BUSH makes what is a terrible blow to conservative jurists who were told in effect..if you are conservative and strict interpreter of the Constitution even a republican president will not nominate you to scotus anyone accepting ms miers is not willing to ask themselves was this what we voted BUSH in for?

You can't even write a coherent argument - and rely on DU-style talking points. And then cast judgement on an accomplished legal professional who has risen to the top of the profession. Fooey.

Hillary was hired by the Rose law firm to be a rain maker...i.e. as the governor's wife she could bring in business for the firm.

According to what I've read, her court room experience there consisted of FIVE cases.

Yet, she has been called "the smartest woman in the world" and ranked as one of the "top 100" attorneys in the country. ON WHAT BASIS?

I would have thought a giant of intellegentsia would also recognize that the 43.6% who need more info doesnt necessarily mean they are for OR against her either, so like I said stop skewing the poll it does you no favor.

Wait nevermind, I think I mioght graduate your school of thought. Ok ahemmm its 73.4% in favor or are waiting for more information against your measily 23.2 % against her.

H. Ross Perot was the nominee of the Reform Party.

Howard Phillips was the Constitution Party presidential candidate.

I have monitored the presidents of my state bar association. I know the managing partners of several large firms. I do not think their experience would even qualify them for federal district court, much less the SCOTUS.

I never thought I'd see the day when I would actually AVOID an appearance by Ann Coulter, whether it was on radio or TV. But that day has come. Not only that, she will have to go a long way to win back my respect.

I could almost choke on these words, but I'm starting to understand how objectionable she was to the left. Her good looks can take her only so far. When ugliness from within starts to bleed through, the whole package is compromised.

waiting until we actually see her lay out her positions?

Here is where many of you are wrong.

A Supreme court Justice should never have a position. Elected officials have positions

Supreme Court Justices should have a demonstrated ability for the type of critical thinking needed for their task.

That is not demonstrated by becoming President of the local Bar Association.

How many of them became White House secretary? White House counsel? Became managing partner of a 400-member law firm?
