Man kept embalmed body of mother for 21 years

HYDERABAD, India -- A man who kept the embalmed body of his mother at home in a glass casket for 21 years was buried along with her after his death, a relative said Tuesday.

Hundreds of residents on Sunday attended the burials of Syed Abdul Ghafoor, 69, and his mother at a mosque in Siddavata, a town 300 miles south of Hyderabad.

Ghafoor divorced his wife after six months of marriage because she had a fight with his mother, said Ghafoor's nephew, Syed Noor.

"He was so eccentric that he would not allow anybody else even to look at the glass casket," Noor said.

Before deciding anything important, Ghafoor would write "yes" and "no" on two pieces of paper. Then, sitting by his mother's body, he would pick one piece of paper without looking at what it said and act accordingly, Noor said.

A whole nation kept V.I. Lenin in a glass box for decades for whatever macabre reason.

Yes, but did they do the "yes" and "no" thing? Isn't that what is really weird? (Sarcasm tag for those who don't understand sarcasm)

Actually, considering how they ran their economy, I think someone must have used the "Yes"/"No" thing with Lenin's casket.

"Should we expand the toilet paper factories ?"

Apparently that one came as "No".

Wasn't psycho based on a true story, or at least derived from one.

This is all very weird, time to relax in the shower.

Yes, Ed Gien from Wisconsin. I'm too lazy to post a link, but the story is at crimelibrary.com if you want to read it.

That movie is still darn scary. And I've seen it many times. Hitchcock knew how to draw out the suspense.
