They are not doubling as executioners. Death is imminent, they are simply acting to enable the patient to fore go the pain.

The govm'ts already involved. Family members caught by your jackboots are charged and convicted with felonies. Fed drug agents harrass and pull licences of docs, whoo in their opinion, dispense too much pain killer. Your claim is both false and shallow, because you are unwilling to even acknowledge that problem and work for a soluiton.

I know in Englad back in the 1600's or 1700's, I think that if one was caught trying to commit suicide, it was a crime punishable by death. Kind of weird in a way, sort of an ultimate version of "suicide by cop." B-P I do think we need to keep the doctors out of it plus it does go against the Hippocratic Oath.

Yeah, the old slippery slope, already it did happen here as well with the Terri Schindler case. There is a lot of mental anguish in seeing a loved one pass on but still, to "off them" via the medical profession or allow assisted suicide is just plain wrong period.

It is ridiculous that people want to involve doctors when they can do it themselves.

The same rational exists for legalizing suicide. If you want to kill yourself, you can, and thus also avoid punishment from society.

There is NO GOOD reason to legalize either suicide or doctor assisted suicide.
