What evidence do you have that the material you are speaking of was pure? (And, what of the other points in my post?)
...besides TATP being made from nail polish remover, it's generically safe to say that **any** subtance that deteriorates, decays, or evaporates, even water, has a smell at some level.
Pure TATP decays rapidly, by the way.
