DALLAS, Oct. 4 - By 1979, Harriet E. Miers, then in her mid-30's, had accomplished what some people take a lifetime to achieve. She was a partner at Locke Purnell Boren Laney & Neely, one of the most prestigious law firms in the South, with an office on the 35th floor of the Republic National Bank Tower in downtown Dallas.
But she still felt something was missing in her life, and it was after a series of long discussions - rambling conversations about family and religion and other matters that typically stretched from early evening into the night - with Nathan L. Hecht, a junior colleague at the law firm, that she made a decision that many of the people around her say changed her life.

I love these stories.
Won't set well with Chuckie.
Bush better start looking again.
With the anti-Christians on both sides it may no longer be possible to appoint a confessing Christian.
This is not good.
In an interview Tuesday on the televangelist Pat Robertson's "700 Club," Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the Christian conservative American Center for Law and Justice, said Ms. Miers would be the first evangelical Protestant on the court since the 1930's. "So this is a big opportunity for those of us who have a conviction, that share an evangelical faith in Christianity, to see someone with our positions put on the court," Mr. Sekulow said.
wow, ain't we lucky. Too bad there weren't any God worshipping, pro-life conservative conservatives available.
I can't wait to see the democommies prosecute her for being a christian on national tv!
Sadly, we seem to have a few closet anti's on our own side.
This one makes her a bit more human.
If you were Bush, would you want to go to war with Democommies and the press with only the 50 Rinos and six conservatives in the senate as your troops??
If I were Bush I would be a moderate conservative, so there would be no problem.
We can only hope he puts Janice Rogers Brown in charge of finding the next nominee.
"Newspapers in Texas have reported that Justice Hecht and Ms. Miers were romantically involved...
"Yes, she goes to a pro-life church," Justice Hecht said, adding, "I know Harriet is, too." The two attended "two or three" anti-abortion fund-raising dinners in the early 1990's, he said, but added that she had not otherwise been active in the anti-abortion movement. "You can be just as pro-life as the day is long and can decide the Constitution requires Roe" to be upheld, he said."
Well, her boyfriend seems to be hinting that she'll uphold Roe. Given that George W Bush never asked about her views, I guess her boyfriend's word is all that we have.
And just where does it say they are more than friends.
If you read the article, the insinuation is fairly clear, including the line about Texas newspapers reporting their romantic involvement.
HMMMMM, let's see she has written (2) terrible articles for
the ABA 1. intl crimal court 2. gay adoption should be legal
and she filled out a questionaire for the GLADD folks that
says "Homosexuals should have equal rights".
And the reasons why I should vote for anyone who votes for
her are..........
As soon as the ACLU and the other leftist trash bags read this, it will be a whole different tune. You already know they are doubting W's response to the abortion conversation. They have been calling him a liar since right after 9/11 and they aren't going to stop now.
The first 2, were part of an ABA committee memo to be debated by it's members as chairwoman of the committee she signed off on the memo authorizing the debate. She did not vote for wither the international court or gay adoption and do you think that she would work as an integral part of an administration that killed America's participation in the criminal court and promoted a constituional amendment against homosexual marriage if she was for both of those issues.
3, About the gladd questionaire she said equal rights, not special rights, and in that same questioanaire she stated that Texas's sodomy laws should not be repealed.
But you knew that anyway, but decided to go with the lies anyway.
