Hinrichs (OU Suicide Bomber) Tried To Buy Ammonium Nitrate

NORMAN, Okla. -- The general manager of a Norman feed store said Tuesday that Joel Henry Hinrichs III had inquired about purchasing a significant amount of ammonium nitrate, the primary ingredient used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Dustin Ellison, the general manager of Ellison Feed & Seed on Porter Avenue, said that a man matching Hinrichs' description had come into the store days before he blew himself up on OU's campus. Ellison said the man asked about ammonium nitrate, but couldn't offer a reason why he needed it.

After the bombing, Ellison said he thought nothing of it. However, when he saw Hinrichs' photo, it triggered his memory.

To this point, authorities still suggest Hinrichs' only motive for blowing himself up was suicide. The FBI released a statement Tuesday evening saying that "there is no known link between Hinrichs and any terrorist or extremist organization(s) or activities."

The release also indicated that the FBI believes there is "no known current threat posed by any additional explosive materials."

Ellison noted that his store doesn't carry ammonium nitrate any longer after recent legislation required new paperwork for stores to sell the product.

Stay tuned to Eyewitness News 5 for further details.

Yep, particularly in OK, I'd think. We've fallen asleep again.

This particular provider of A.N. did at least. Seems he would know his regular customers and would notify someone if confronted by a stranger looking to buy a large quantity of such a notorious substance!

Recent evidence suggests they may never let it out. But I think this one is just too public, with too many loose ends, they will have to release what they know because there are too many people who know pieces of it.

I know it's not the same , but what if 'they' had been able to keep 9/11 from us.

Would 'they' have?

Back tomorrow.

It makes me wonder if he was wearing the jihadi beard when he asked about the ammonium nitrate or not....

I don't know if this guy was a real Jihad convert, but he was weird enough apparently to find Jihad a cool concept. I attended the University of Oklahoma in the late '90s around the same time a few of the 911 al-Qaeda guys were supposedly there. Due to the petroleum engineering and petroleum land management programs there tends to be a population of muslim students on campus, but not the type that would go around witnessing to weird white guys. The muslims I came across were from Kuwait and Dubai and had lots of spending money and nice clothes. OU is a party time campus where life revolves around football, basketball, fraternity/sorority, and...did I mention football. I think this kid was screwed up and disenfranchised even with them supposedly finding Jihadist materials in his possession.

"Finally they convinced her to go back and kill the doctors who saved her life."

From a Pali point of view, this would have also removed a baccillus of sympathy for Israelis from their midst, too. Two birds with one stone. I'll expect this unfortunate woman to be killed by her own soon for this very reason.

The Jihadists and the lefties of America do work the same way.

They target the weak and mentally ill to brainwash them into believing their radical ways are the only way.

Ive been thinking about that ever since I saw the interview. Ive come to think of the terror planners almost as the traditional old testiment demons. Those demons seldom did the deeds on their own, it was usually the result of words whispered in mortal ears.

Pardon me, my good man. Might I inquire as to the purchase of a not meager amount of, how you say, Ammonium Nitrate? It is purely for personal consumption, my friend.

"Seems he would know his regular customers and would notify someone if confronted by a stranger looking to buy a large quantity of such a notorious substance"

It was irresponsible of him, a level of irresponsibility that approaches criminality. Maybe the thought that he very nearly played a role in an attack on a stadium filled with 80K+ people woke him up? Let's hope so.

This guy was a Jihad terrorist.

I've certainly not come to that conclusion...as of yet.

And I may never...although my eye's are wide open.

When was that notice at the Air Force Academy about watching out for Jihadis at the stadium or something like that.

Both the AFA and this guy are from Colorado Springs, right?

But there's no connection! Move along!

That might have been one of the reasons--but I've always thought the main reason was so Clinton and his band of rotters could demonize the right, and push through a gun bill (even though no gun was used in the commission of that bombing).

Nothing to see here, folks. See that new photo of him? It's obvious now that he was going to become Amish and start a farm, and he needed some fertilizer, that's all. These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along.

There is a lot of farming around this part of the state. I'm sure he gets asked that question a lot.

Oh, please. Try to think about where Norman is. It's in the middle of a lot of farming country. Farmers use fertilizer.
