Tanker Truck Fire Shuts Down Bruckner Expressway
October 04, 2005
A tanker truck has burst into flames near the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx, shutting down traffic on the highway in both directions.
The Fire Department say the explosion happened at 1344 Bruckner Boulevard near the Hunts Point drawbridge shortly after 2 p.m. It is still unclear exactly what caused the tanker to catch fire.
Fire crews are now on the scene trying to extinguish the blaze.
As a result of the fire, the Bruckner Expressway and Bruckner Boulevard are closed in both directions until further notice.
NYC Transit says the No. 6 train has also been suspended from Third Avenue to Parkchester in both directions because of the fire and smoke conditions.
NY1 will have more on this breaking news story as soon as more information becomes available.
