Oh yeah, it's October.........I need to make a new thread!
did that sound believable??
They are having a "Tom Delay Tribute Dinner" on CSPAN-3. Is this signaling a problem?
You guys have GOTTA listen to the callers on CSPAN. These guys are hilarious. The Dems are amazing and ALL of the people calling in on the independent line are Dems as well.
Oh, dear, did Frist give a pro-Islam speech...that's good.
He is SO done as a POTUS candidate.
BTW...I am here on this thread...because it is DANGEROUS to be anywhere else on FR today...LOL

10:00 a.m. : Convene and resume consideration of H.R. 2863, the Defense Appropriations Bill.
Previous Meeting:
Tuesday, Oct 4, 2005
The Senate convened at 9:45 a.m. and adjourned at 6:37 p.m. No record votes were taken.
-------
Sorry I'm late, this OK bomb story has me sidetracked....
Yeppers...just a few minutes late...
BTW...I think I heard Frist allude to a "break" next week----I don't know why they didn't schedule it for THIS week, considering they haven't done any business for 3 days because of Rosh Hashanah...(I have no complaint with them celebrating it...but, since they can't do anything anyway..why not have it coincide with their "break"???))
What is McCain doing?
Yikes....MCCain up trying to get the amendment passed for an investigative commission on torture at Gitmo and I guess, Abu Gharib (even though most of those people have been tried and punished)...
Could get some feathers ruffled here...
Chicken. ;-)
The Miers nomination is just another example of volume over substance. Venture out, it cultivates the skill of sorting fly specks from pepper.
Does anyone know if the hearing on Able Danger is still on for today? I had it calendared for the 5th of Oct.
bbl
I THINK I heard that it was postponed supposedly because of the Jewish Holiday...but I might be wrong.
I didn't see it scheduled on C-span anywhere, though.
I thought I just saw a thread in Breaking but its gone now.
not sure about the hearing.
I have stuck my toe out today...went to the Tony Snow thread...and there is "in-fighting" on that thread today also...
Whew....I don't know, this might take a while to settle down, unless somehow Miers withdraws her name, or she gets voted DOWN...
If she is confirmed....I see a lot of people jumping off the sides of the Good Ship Bush, in droves!!!
Same players, different context, lots of noise, very little news, facts or analysis. Typical FR in other words, just more of it because an issue is on the table.
If she is confirmed....I see a lot of people jumping off the sides of the Good Ship Bush, in droves!
It's too early to reach that conclusion; and FR does not come close to representing popular/public sentiment. I know I won't be voting for his 3rd term. ;-)
Thinking people take things issue by issue. SCOTUS nomination is a big issue, to be sure. And this nomination is unsettling to me for a variety of reasons - none of which impugn Ms. Miers ability or inclination.
Well...NEVER MIND!!!
So far, I have only seen one Senator get up and not drool all over McCain's amendment (btw...I didn't hear if it included an investigative hearing...but it does include changing the Military rules of conduct..which could be difficult)...
The one Senator that hasn't kissed McCain butt, is Sen. Stevens...
So far, Sens. Graham, Alexander, and Durbin are just doing the dance of joy!!!!
Anytime the dems get to stand up and complain about how President Bush told the military to go out and torture, just willy-nilly, they get joyous!!!
Me too. I think I'd fall into the crowd that thinks this was a missed opportunity and the President shouldn't be ashamed to put a KNOWN conservative, and/or a constitutional originalist up for nomination.
He shouldn't be bashful and try to "sneak" someone unknown onto the SCOTUS.
And I'm definitely with the crowd that by doing this only pushes people to keep their mouth shut about opinions they hold so nothing can be used against them in the future.
