Same players, different context, lots of noise, very little news, facts or analysis. Typical FR in other words, just more of it because an issue is on the table.
If she is confirmed....I see a lot of people jumping off the sides of the Good Ship Bush, in droves!
It's too early to reach that conclusion; and FR does not come close to representing popular/public sentiment. I know I won't be voting for his 3rd term. ;-)
Thinking people take things issue by issue. SCOTUS nomination is a big issue, to be sure. And this nomination is unsettling to me for a variety of reasons - none of which impugn Ms. Miers ability or inclination.
Well...NEVER MIND!!!
So far, I have only seen one Senator get up and not drool all over McCain's amendment (btw...I didn't hear if it included an investigative hearing...but it does include changing the Military rules of conduct..which could be difficult)...
The one Senator that hasn't kissed McCain butt, is Sen. Stevens...
So far, Sens. Graham, Alexander, and Durbin are just doing the dance of joy!!!!
Anytime the dems get to stand up and complain about how President Bush told the military to go out and torture, just willy-nilly, they get joyous!!!
Me too. I think I'd fall into the crowd that thinks this was a missed opportunity and the President shouldn't be ashamed to put a KNOWN conservative, and/or a constitutional originalist up for nomination.
He shouldn't be bashful and try to "sneak" someone unknown onto the SCOTUS.
And I'm definitely with the crowd that by doing this only pushes people to keep their mouth shut about opinions they hold so nothing can be used against them in the future.
