DeLay indictment is ‘welcome relief' (perfect distillation of Liberal FuzzyThink)
A major publication | 10/3/2005 | USA Today letters

Posted on 10/03/2005 10:44:23 PM PDT by freedumb2003

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, has finally been indicted on a charge of conspiring to violate state election law

While the DeLay camp says this is politically motivated, the facts remain:

•DeLay has been admonished five times since 1997 by the House of Representatives' ethics committee.

*snip*

•DeLay used his influence to promote

*snip*

redistricting numerous Texas districts, with Republicans gaining several seats.

But why didn't the Republicans just run candidates to unseat those Democrats? •DeLay is a close ally of President Bush.

*snip*

For those of us who don't subscribe to the far-right, religious-fanatical wing of the Republican Party, his indictment is a welcome relief.

This actual LTTE in a major american paper is astonishing in it's crystal clear expose of how a liberal "thinks." The thesis statement that "while the DeLay camp says this is politically motivated, the facts remain" (emph added) and then goes on to list opinions, none of which is a legal (or any other kind of) fact. Instead the "facts" listed boil down to:

I don't like Tom Delay so it is great that we are using trumped-up charges to try to remove him.

The number of ironies in this letter are numerous, but I I especially I love the "why didn't the Republicans just run candidates to unseat those Democrats?" followed by " his indictment is a welcome relief."

What idiot on the planet earth can't see that this sums up to "why don't we just run Democrats to replace Tom Delay?" Instead we end up with "his indictment is a welcome relief."

Folks -- bookmark this, print it, and throw it in the face of your Liberal family members and friends.

You gotta love these folks, for the ammo they supply us all the time.

Tom Delay is a Republican and only a Republican. He continually sells out conservative ideals in order to solidify power for the party. I don't like how it happened, but I like the result. I hope that at the end of the day, he resigns. We need real conservative leadership, not a bunch of corrupt insiders whose only goal is to remain in power at any cost!

My point is more the inability of the Left to know a Faxt from am Political Position.

We can't directlyt post from USA Today, but I suggest you look at http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/20051003/letfill03.art.htm

The absolute beauty of the replacement of opinion -- and POLITICAL opinion -- for what the writer posits as "fact" is art unto itself.

For those of us who don't subscribe to the far-right, religious-fanatical wing of the Republican Party,...

Well I sure don't ...

BUT I SEE THEIR POINT

Tom DeLay is just about the only Republican left that I can stomach.

...his indictment is a welcome relief.

Keep the Rolaids handy in case he is acquitted.

I wonder if the new charges were dictated by the DNC and media to their stupid lackey, Earle.

According to Rush, what the left wants is the perp walk, Delay in handcuffs and his mug shot. This will be the face of the Republican Party in 2006.

We can joke about the crazy DA but life in prison is not funny.

The peacenick party is behaving in a very warlike way, and the party of the hawks is like a lamb before its shearers.

The Tom DeLay indictment is pure military tactic: it has thrown the Republican organization in the Senate, that was supposed to install a conservative judge on the Supreme Court, into total disarray. The tactic has worked. The indictment is not about DeLay at all, but about people like Janice Rogers Brown, whose confirmation might have unhinged the slaveowner party completely.

No, the Democrats are all for war, but it's war on the other half of the United States that they're fighting.
