I believe that overly emotional people are easily manipulated. Jealousy is a good example which can cause the mind to race and create its own reality.

Emotional expectations such as the ones we have seen here on FR today is another. Many people may have set themselves up for a let down that didn't exist because the choice for the SCOTUS was an unknown quantity leading to uncertainty and anguish from the inability to answer the question, did we win or lose? The higher the stakes the higher the emotions generally. Watching a pro football game at a stadium is a great example.

There sure were a lot pessimists vowing never to vote Republican in spite of the fact that we had no facts.
