Remember this blast from the past?

We're being punked, folks. There are a bunch of MoveOn types trying to start a stampede in the conservative movement and there are some folks who should know better who have already been spooked. It's easy to understand why twits like Buchannen or Kristol would turn on and attack the President, but there are a lot of folks who should know better who are piling on for no good reason.

Keep your powder dry. Don't let them channel the argument before there's ANY information out there. Just take a deep breath and learn to listen and winnow the wheat from the chaff.

Remember, grasshoppers, this is Shinola.

Love your post! KUDOS!

I have never known of a man who cares MORE about the character of people and less about popularity polls that GW. Ever.

I trust this leader because he models what he believes and he knows how to stay the course.

He has courage under fire.

I'd like some of that stuff...LOL!

"but there are a lot of folks who should know better who are piling on for no good reason."

No good reason, like failing to nominate a proven constitutionalist judge while instead putting out an unknown and saying "trust me"?

No good reason, like dingy harry reid fawning over her?

Excuse me while I go flip a few cartwheels to celebrate this incredible choice of an unknown commodity being appointed to an almost lifetime position on the nation's highest court.

Chiche-o-rama. Allow me to add one: Bush is playing chess, everyone else is playing checkers.

Yes, and if it's anything like it usually is, then the first two weeks of the MSM's news will be all hype, lies and innuendo. The truthful information will come later.

I tend to agree, it would be easy enough to do. A couple dozen DU-Lu's and a couple dozen "sleepers" (see also "tepid") and some chicken little for flavor... Viola! massive panic attack at FR central.

You don't think so?? Count todays ZOT!'s and over-the-edge posts about SCOTUS nominee Harriet Miers

Thanks for the post. I've been hanging around a couple of years, and I've never seen a day like this.

I been defending Bush all day, mainly because I believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

She is a question mark to us, but he definitely knows her.

I think he has thrown the Dems the ultimate curve ball, not a limited paper trail, but a nonexistent one. George Bush has always made good choices in his appointments (except for the HS guy). I cannot see him abandoning his base.

Sometimes you just got to have faith.

Well, this is exactly the technique used and perfected by Babara Boxer, which got her elected to Congress.
Fortunately, when she got there, the rest of the country wasn't as ignorant or as stoned as her home constituency, and she fell flat on her face. She has been marginalized ever since.

The best defense to this old and tired form of attack is repeated counterattacks with facts, to counter the emotions and opinions that can be demonstrated to have failed every time for the last 40 years.

The cover story for the Globe tabloid this week claims Pres. Bush is drinking and arguing with Laura and their marriage is in jeopardy. That false story has been circulating a while of course but now it has been featured in 2 recent tabloids. Disgusting.

Political dissent is at the core of our first amendment rights. Criticism of an elected leader, whether it be of ones own party or of the loyal opposition, is something the Founding Fathers engaged in at all times. In fact, throughout US history there has always been a give and take in the political arena. From Washington, to Jackson, to Lincoln, to TR, to FDR, to Ike, to Reagan and finally to Bush43, politics is not for the thin skinned.

"but there are a lot of folks who should know better who are piling on for no good reason."

When you are through drinking the kool-aid, take a deep breath and see the missed opportunity for what it was. Going with a known conservative on all issues, rather than with an unknown is like throwing away two-pair of kings and queens, and hoping that three of the next four cards drawn will all be aces. fat chance. well, lean chance at best.

Most of the people who post the negative comments are on in the daytime. I believe that is because many of them are Dems, and we all know that a lot of DUers don't work but spend the day going to protests and trying to cause trouble here on FR.

One of the comments that gives them away every time is the one where they say " I am through with the republican party, I am going to vote for third party, or Hillary, next time, or I am not giving any more money to RNC until such and such happens." You can almost bet people who say those statements are fake conservatives or people being stampeded, either way who needs them?

I am waiting until the facts are in, not the hype, before I make up my mind about this candidate. So far we are getting the same hype and BS we got when Roberts was first nominated, only more of it.

GREAT REPOST!!!

I agree that the scumbag rat operatives are out in droves, and that is not at all surprising. But what is truly disappointing is to see so many enablers, especially around here, naively eating it up without the slightest idea that they are being played.

Regards,
LH
