Moby's anti-Bush tricks

One of Sen. John Kerry's celebrity supporters is ready to pull out all the stops to get him elected. Republicans are shrieking over a suggestion by rocker Moby that Democrats spread gossip about President Bush on the Internet.

"No one's talking about how to keep the other side home on Election Day," Moby tells us. "It's a lot easier than you think and it doesn't cost that much. This election can be won by 200,000 votes."

Moby suggests that it's possible to seed doubt among Bush's far-right supporters on the Web.

"You target his natural constituencies," says the Grammy-nominated techno-wizard. "For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion.

"Then you go to an anti-immigration Web site chat room and ask, 'What's all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?'"

Moby didn't claim that he believed the abortion story.

(snip)

Republican National Committee spokeswoman Christine Iverson likened Moby's proposal to "dirty campaign tactics we're already seeing from John Kerry."

"His campaign was willing to use these kinds of voter suppression tactics against members of his own party in Iowa and New Hampshire," Iverson says. "John Kerry is a hypocrite. He pledged to run a clean campaign. Then he uses the lowest form of gutter politics to impugn his opponents, Democratic and Republican. It's unfortunate but this is probably just the beginning of the kind of tactics we're going to be seeing from John Kerry in the months to come."

Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said, "I doubt that Moby was suggesting anybody suppress the vote. We did not use any dirty tactics against any candidate.

Yes. Wait until we see the hearings and how she reacts before we pass judgement.

It looks like we are all going to have to exercise patience to learn where she stands on anything. Because we are not going to know anything about her until she is deciding cases on the Supreme Court. Hopefully, she will be a justice in the Scalia/Thomas mold. It's just too bad we have to wait and see.

Well said and true..

I think Moby is an idiot, and you must think freepers are idiots.

i don't know how you can come to that conclusion.

This place has been overrun with trolls today doing their "seminar caller" act.

Who would know better than George W Bush? She's been a confidant for a decade. He certainly knows her better than he knows John Roberts.

It's really sad to see so many freepers here going insane today. They seem to think they know her better than the President does.

That's insane.

>Have you read some of the "freepers" postings today? Way too many newbies threatening to vote for Hillary, or hide under the covers for the next 3 years because of the Mier nomination.<

You can tell from their language, too, these newbies are Moveon.org operatives. You can't post pro-Bush comments today on FR without getting very rude responses. Yeah, I think FR has been hijacked.

uh, yes it does. Because there's still a role for the people: If they are sufficiently upset, they can contact their senators, who in their 'advise and consent' role, can keep her from getting on the bench.

Get it??

Yea I get it, do you think we're at that point now?

I heard the same crapola about Roberts, who really knows anyway.

Even the judges are not supposed to know how they'll vote on an issue until in comes to the court in the form of a specific case, GET IT.

Even Scalia and Thomas have been on opposite sides on some issues.

Yes.

And if a judge is supposed to receive the consent of the senate, and by extension, the extent of the people, they should have something more to go on than "trust me".

That is what I am counting on. I hope I am not wrong.

I believe there's some on this very thread, and probably every other one today. sorta LOL

The mods have been doing an outstanding job to try and clean things up around here.

Yeah, I think FR has been hijacked.

I am in no way making a joke or belittling anything by the following comment.

FR has been hijacked? Like Hell.

Let's Roll.

They can only take it if we sit back and let them.

Well alrighty, then I guess we agree, we'll wait for the hearings to learn more about the nominee.

In my case before I start trashing her.

" but the Powerline folks are beginning to make "hold on just a sec" noises."

Today Jack Reed ( D- RI ) scolded Harry Reid for gushing like a school boy with a crush over Miers,
tonight David Gergen and Dick Durbin were also urging caution on LKL- so, the liberal love fest with Miers may be coming to a screeching halt.
She was not my first choice, nor my second, but, I have to give weight to those that know her and vouch for her-President Bush, Jay Sekulow and James Dobson.

I've been wondering if some of the over the top anti-immigration people are plants. There isn't one thread about anything that doesn't bring them out with the most hateful comments that have nothing to do with the subject. I thought maybe I was being paranoid.

Have you read the 2 posts today on http://hughhewitt.com? Do You Trust Him? and Olasky on Miers?

Not conclusive by any stretch of the imagination, but part of why I'm willing to wait and see.

DailyPundit, on the other hand, really hates Bush and all things "bushie." Michelle Malkin has also been on a tirade against this White House for several weeks. I'm concerned that some of her criticism may be becoming knee jerk and not as well thought out as most of her stuff has been.

They've pissed her off so much over the immigration issue that I'm not sure she can get past that on any other issues. I'm not sure she's wrong, mind you, just concerned that I can't take what she says at face value.

But that's just me.

Dobson specifically said he's never met her and doesn't know her, but he has spoken to people he trusts who do know her, so for now he's urging people to wait and see.

Did you see the thread earlier today about ACLJ endorsing her? There were immediately 15 posts trashing Sekulow as being a mindless bushie who supports anything this White House does. That was what started me thinking about setting up this thread.

Wait. Learn patience. Learn some facts, not wild speculation and total BS. Anyone who can't endorse that position isn't worth wasting time on.

Friend, that's not going to happen. Oneupmanship and REACT! carries the day now. Sad, but true.

"Well alrighty, then I guess we agree, we'll wait for the hearings to learn more about the nominee."

The problem is that the hearings are little more than a dog and pony show where senators ask 5 minute long, well, we'll call them "questions", in order to get on the news back home. Very little is learned there.

That's why it's not nice to have a stealth candidate be put up for a lifetime appointment. The hearings will be largely useless, except for the democrats to make fools out of themselves again.

And you can't make a post expressing your desire for real conservativism without being labeled a troll. Sad.
