I keep hearing that but apparently she is a very good lawyer who has argued constitutional cases for President Bush. And apparently there have been a number of non-judge justices.

I keep wondering just what qualifies one to be an associate justice? I always thought that an honest and sincere person that had the intelligence to understand a complex problem was an acceptable choice.

Well its true she does have legal qualifications. No one gets that far in life without having some ability. Its not just political connections. Although one has to admit that in a town like Washington, political considerations in the end trump other factors.
