WASHINGTON - Almost five years after he left office, it seems like Bill Clinton is everywhere.
The former president, who has never shied from the limelight, can thank President Bush for some of his recent surge in visibility.
In a move that infuriated some of Bush's conservative backers, the president appointed Clinton to join his father, another ex-president, in raising money for disaster victims. Bush also sent Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to attend the "Clinton Global Initiative" in New York two weeks ago.
And James Lee Witt, who headed the Federal Emergency Management Agency under Clinton, huddled with Bush during the Hurricane Katrina crisis.
Beyond the new Bush ties, Clinton is plenty active on his own. His foundation, based in the mainly black Harlem neighborhood of New York, is spending tens of millions of dollars to help people with AIDS in Africa, Asia and elsewhere.
Clinton's global initiative - with the goals of cutting poverty, reducing religious conflict, decreasing global warming and improving government around the world - just brought in pledges of $1.8 billion at a conference that featured Rice, World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz and a galaxy of other U.S. and foreign leaders.
"All of us have an unprecedented amount of power to solve problems, save lives and help people see the future," Clinton told hundreds of movers and shakers at the conference.
Looking trim and fit - former aides say he weighs about 40 pounds less than his White House peak - Clinton was on a recent cover of Parade magazine for an article about his recovery from open-heart surgery last fall.
His wife, Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, is way ahead of the pack in early polling for the Democrats' 2008 presidential nomination.
Once dubbed "the Comeback Kid" of political campaigns, Clinton,

With no small thanks due to his legions of groveling sychopahants in the mainstream media.
Long standing tradition has been that former Presidents stayed out of the political arena. Democrats violate this tradition... and it is a tradition vital to the stability of our republic. George Washington certainly thought so.
With no small thanks from the current president.
How can we miss him if he won't go away!!! ;>0
"Jewels in the crown."
I attribute that to nothing more than political pandering. Not that I consider that a badge of honor.
The acolytes of the MSM, on the other hand, wear out a pair of kneepads daily over the ex-traitor-in-cheif.
Just my view from the saddle,
How would the Country be different if Hillary hadn't missed him with that ashtray?
Still pretending he has a legacy other than monica.

And don't forget the criminality, the deceit, the lies, the adultery, the treason, the anti-Americanism, his record tax increase, and his zero-action against terror (OBL) and the revelations of ABLE DANGER. Just to mention a few more...
Probably a much better place!!
Bill looks like death warmed over to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he is not long for this world. I sincerely hope that he gets his heart right with God.
"infuriated" sub> disgusted
It's all about Bill.
The pasty white complexion of his and weight loss are not neccessarily good things for someone recovering from open heart surgery. He appears to be losing his vitality.
LOL
He had all but disappeared until Bush put him front row center on the world stage. Incredible!
At this point, an excorcist should be called in..
WASHINGTON - Almost five years after he left office, it seems like Bill Clinton is everywhere...
Pssst, that's not Bill Cliton, that's Karl Rove!
I find it funny that the dems are out there screaming "climate of corruption" and Bill Clinton is out there in the public eye mouthing off. In some ways, Bill Clinton is the gift that keeps on giving. So long as he yacks, he reminds people of interns in the Oval Office, impeachment and lying.
Thanks Bill and hey "climate of corruption!!"
