Excellent point here, once again we know nothing of the personal relationship she has with GW.Time for an open mind for a while.

I think you are correct.
Levin has been nothing but supportive of Bush in the past, including the Roberts appointment. But his comments on this individual were exceedingly grim - as they should be.

Did I hear Rush say that she did not donate to Clinton that it was another person?

If you're saying Republicans no longer want nor need the votes of conservative, pro-life Christians ... I beg to differ. You seem to be saying that President Bush is not conservative or a pro-life Christian.

Has anyone pointed out her senior citizen status and that in 15 years she will be 75. A younger pick would have exyended our hegemony on the Court. The brain softens and looses vigor over time and takes a Left hand turn, ie soft thinking.

since he relies on Levin for guidance in matters like this. I see a trend. Rush is incapable of making up his own mind. So far, he is said to base his opinion on Bush, the crowds and now Mark Levin I am beginning to think that only people who don't think for themselves think no one else does either.

I was disappointed with this nomination too but when I think about it, it might just work out.
RINOs already came out against the strong conservative candidates. Even without a filibuster I don't know if Brown, Owens or Jones would have made it through. Would have been a great fight though.
However, if you are the President and you know in your heart you've got the most conservative of candidates and a strict constructionist(and one that even has swayed a few Democrats) then maybe you go for the easy win.
Time will tell very quickly with some key cases, such as partial birth abortion, coming to the Court.

Why don't you give Rush a break. How many of here on this thread have the in-depth knowledge of a Levin or even Laura Ingram to decide who should be the next scotus? It's a very involved pick. I know I could never make it.

I am disappointed also, I was hoping for a younger stronger obvious proven conservative.
BUT...
Thank God we are not dealing with a SCOTUS nomnination from a Prez John F Kerry. Excuse me, I have to go lay down for awhile and calm down after having to type that name.

I knew that, think I posted it very early this morning. This was something that Rush said a few minutes ago. He said some people had been saying that she donated to Clinton but that was someone else with a similar name.

he would not have picked her if he thought she was unqualified or against his own morals and values. The President is risking our future by nominating someone whose judicial temperament not even he has a clue about. I don't want a SCJ based on Mr. Bush's gut feelings. After all, I remember how he looked into Pooty-poot's soul.....
Bush looks stupid and scared. And, I'm exhausted looking for new and clever ways to defend his decisions.

In fairness, as someone not too thrilled with this pick, those she donated too a decade ago mean next to nothing to me.
My own Parents voted for Clinton in '92. My father had even voted for Carter. They regret these votes now. I, myself, voted for some Democrats in past though not at the Presidential level.
Reagan himself was a Democrat. It doesn't mean as much as people would like to make of it. If she had voted for Kerry in 2004, then that would be telling. But people make the switch from Democrat to Republican, Liberal to conservative, all the time.

If the dims do like Miers, than good. Maybe work will get done. Appeasement never works. The kind of work done by happy democrats is bad business. "No business" is better than "bad business."

Get over it people.
In 1988 the woman gave money to Gore. In 1988 Gore was a conservative, pro-life Democrat.
It has also been said that she was a memeber of a law firm that gave in mass to the campaign. Law firms are known for doing that kind of thing.
She has not given to a democrat since that time.
