She also became the first female president of the Dallas Bar Association in 1985 and was the first woman elected president of the Texas Bar Association in 1992. No, thank you. I'm not hopeful of anyone who has such involvement with the ABA.

You are not reading clearly. The Dallas Bar Assn and the Texas Bar Assn are NOT part of the ABA.
I, for instance, am required to be a member of the Maryland Bar Assn in order to practice in the federal courts. However, I resigned in disgust from the ABA 20 years ago, and have never looked back. There is NO connection between the ABA and the state and local bars.
