Probably a conservative estimate.

One of the basic techniques of anti-terrorism and anti-guerilla warfare is to attract the elusive enemy into one spot and then kill them.
The media seem to have forgotten this in their eagerness to write about things they know nothing about.

Iraqi authorities seized a letter from Abu Azzam, al-Qaida's second-in-command who was killed in Iraq last month, to al-Zarqawi, in which he called for moving the foreign fighters from Iraq to neighboring countries
OK, let me see if I understand this.
They found a letter. I assume this letter wasn't delivered yet.
So why is the MSM revealing its contents?
I have no need to know this.

How many DEAD foreign fighters in Iraq? I guarantee you it is a multiple of the number of those currently (not for long) living!!

a letter from Abu Azzam, al-Qaida's second-in-command who was killed in Iraq last month, to al-Zarqawi, in which he called for moving the foreign fighters from Iraq to neighboring countries to avoid a possible blow and setback in Iraq.If this is true, it is close to a concession of defeat and retreat by the terrorists. If it is true, we should see Iraq become much quieter and safer soon. No doubt the MSM will be delighted to report on the drop in violence there.
