Rudi is doing a serious disservice to the party. His proper role is defeating Hillary's Senate re-election run, not running for president. It is, in 2008, far more important that she not be elected than it is any single Republican be elected.

Right. He backed out of his last senate race very abruptly and offers no good reason for not trying again now. He stands less of a chance in 2008 than Arnold Schwartenegger, who at least has guvenatorial experience. Enough with the mayors and senators, for goodness sake. If it's anyone from congress, it ought to be a Representative: Tancredo. But I'd prefer Hannity.

Exactly.
Perhaps Rudi is waiting to spring a sudden late entry into the New York Senate race after Hillary is already well committed to running again, so it's too late for her to gracefully drop out or for Democrats field a replacement candidate.

Nonsense. In the end, Hillary is still just one vote out of 100. Rudy has my vote if he runs for the oval office.

Rudy won't beat Hilly for the US Senate Seat - it's hers for as long as she wants it. The opportunity for that was in 2000 and he bowed out of the race. He has a better chance running nationally.

I think Rudy should run for Governor of New York next year, he would easily defeat Elliot Spitzer and be perfectly positioned to be George Allen's or Mark Sandford's running mate in 08. But, I guess he wants the WH himself, and if that's the case he's going to have to change or seriously moderate his positions on some social issues before I would consider supporting him. Currently I'm leaning to Allen.
