One person was killed in an explosion about 100 yards from a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma last night in what officials are ruling a suicide.

The noisy explosion was heard inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where 84,000 were watching the Oklahoma Sooners play Kansas State.

A police bomb squad reportedly detonated other explosives found at the site of the blast.

No spectators were allowed out of the stadium immediately following the blast, which occurred about 8 p.m. near halftime at the football game.

By 8:30, police were allowing fans to leave the area.

Thanks! My son talked to her boyfriend this morning and was told she is not to talk to anyone. There must have been ten of us standing around that heard her. His fraternity brother that witnessed the bombing called the authorities which is how they ended up talking with them. She was talking about these two guys and in comes the brother that had witnessed the blast -- said he felt the heat on his face and the one side of his face was redder then the other.

My daughter and I almost freaked out when we heard her talking and then with the addition of the brother being near the blast, and the authorities showing up we left.

Was the dead guy swarthy, black headed, carrying a Koran? That might give us a clue. Is that racial profiling? Put me down in favor of that.

They also found more explosives at the scene. I was at the game and we didn't know what happened until the 4th quarter even though we heard the explosion which was loud. Nothing on the radio and the guy behind us was listening to the game. Zero, zip, nada.

You couldn't go out the one gate even 30 minutes later -- we always go out that way after the game and it was shutdown after the game.

This story seems bogus. I'm not making any political statements here, but there was nothing about it in the articles about the game. I couldn't find it anywhere that I looked. WND had it, but that doesn't say much to me. Something like this would have been on all the front pages because it would signal a new phase in the War on Terror. AND the game would have been cancelled, especially since the bomb was so "close" to the stadium. There would have been a lot of people running away too--a bomb goes off near 84,000 people and no one says anything???

Thanks. Your input last night (and currently) is invaluable. FR is the best place for news. Freepers are everywhere.

We have FBI, Homeland Security, ATF, and drug sniffing dogs on campus and they were there immediately last night from what I heard. There are some stories but very few and with little detail.

Most of what I learned was from people on the scene when I was leaving the game and from what my son learned who is a GA and had to go to his office.

It was NO pipe bomb, they found more bombs, they impounded three buses, etc. Those are just some of the reports I have picked up. One report from a Tulsa couple said a cop told them the buses around that part of campus might have been a target. It happened about 100 yards from the stadium in an area where if you leave the stadium to go east, you will walk right by.

Last night first reports said no injuries other then the person who blew themself up and about four hours later they said five injuries.

We do not have the whole story to put it mildly.

Maybe it's not bogus. I did see it in another place too that was a little more newsworthy.

I read much of the long thread last night. Find PhiKapMom's comments and you will be convinced beyond a doubt that it was indeed a failed homicide bomb attempt. Lots of eye witness stuff - she and her grown children were there. The fact that the MSM isn't saying anything should be taken as proof that nothing happened. We should know that by now!

If you have the time, check out her comments in particular.

(Again, PKM - pinging you out of courtesy. I'm sure you're very busy, pay me no mind!)

The girl that told us two ME types ran into where she was at in the stadium after the blast and separated comes from Iran. She lived there until her family was able to get out and come to live with family here about six years ago. She had witnessed similar happenings. She said the look on their faces told her they were involved and then we learned there were more than one bomb. She has been interviewed and not by the press. That's why my daughter and I freaked when we heard her talk.

I had just finished telling my daughter that I wondered how many reports of ME types running away would we hear. Except for her and one guy that witnessed the blast who also ran, nothing has been reported here. We have a large student population of Middle Easterners because of the Sarkey's Energy Center and our Petroleum Engineering School so having ME around campus is nothing new and wouldn't be noticed by most of us. But then we had Moussouri and Berg here on campus too!

They did not jam cell phones, I was at the game and heard/felt the blast. (It was impressive). I immediately called my wife to tell her I was OK and asked her to hawk Fox News and let me know what had just happened. So did many others in my section.

Something is odd. I think Boren is wordsmithing the whole incident, not wanting to let something out. Something like AQ or PA homicide bombers among us. It was very close to half time when many head out for a beer. An opportune time to inflict a lot of injury without having to get past security at the gates. Phi Kappa Mom's story supports the same line of thinking.

Thanks for the info. SHouldn't your sentence about the MSM read--"the fact that the MSM isn't saying anything SHOULDN'T be taken as proof that nothing happened" ? Just wondering:).

I'm just starting to pick up on your posts on both threads.

I hope you are doing okay.

For the life of me I can't understand why there is a blanket of secrecy over this matter?
