Thanks! I never saw her before tonight and when my son stopped by to pick up his car, he doesn't remember ever seeing her in his house but he doesn't live in the house since he is a GA. Think I will ask him tomorrow who she is!

My first thought. These scientists are microbiologists and these deaths fall waaaay outside what is expected. We had our own murder of a scientist (Yes, microbio) in the parking garage at MO University this year.

Ummm maybe someone should change the title. It was a suicide. Far from a suicide bomber = terrorist. The title is misleading at best.

Thanks......I'll keep watching the taglines on FOX. I can't figure why they removed the story either. Regardless of whether this was a nutty student, or a terrorist type thing, either way it should be breaking news.

What do you bet we all go to work on Monday and never hear another word about this?

"One person who responded to the scene said she heard the blast from four miles away."

That sounds like a bigger blast than a pipe bomb, doesn't it?

Remember that right after 9/11 a lot of people were worried about bombings, bioterror attacks, nuclear attacks, dirty bombs....you name it and somebody was worried about it. I have highly intelligent friends who thought we were certainly going to get hit somewhere with a huge bombing, dirty bomb, or bioterror attack. And yet these same people still went out shopping and went to sporting events and didn't change their lifestyle, because they didn't think anything would happen to them. After all, all of us have seen the wreckage from fatal car crashes on the side of the road and yet everyone still drives a car.

So one bombing at OU isn't going to affect the economy in the slightest even if it is an attempted terror attack. If a wave of deadly bombings were to happen (God forbid), that would hurt consumer spending to some extent but we still would not "collapse" economically. Israel has not collapsed and neither would the US.

you know what's funny?
I'm a grad student at KSU at we have had an very odd increase in security around campus, esp. for home football game days.

much more than normal.

They even had the plainclothes guys, in their "I am not a law enforcement officer" getup, blue suits and dark shades and white Buicks..I figured KBI guys trying to be cool.

They paper said they are really there for cracking down on "ticket scalpers" loiterers, people around the stadium around game time, people selling stuff, etc.
but given todays events, it just seems wierd.

anyhow, the grad student apartments here are 60% muslim families, and the main mosque here in Manhattan is on Claflin just down the road from west campus -so if there are some alquaeda around, I probably walk past them every day.

still its wierd, i can see into the stadium from my bathroom, so i noticed this stuff after the article in the paper.

Are they trying to check out the story to be sure of facts before breaking with it

Nah, they're checking out the overtime budget and deciding that incurring an 8 hour doubletime call to cover one death isn't worth it. If it had happened at two in the afternoon on a slow news day they'd have been on it like... uh... a missing blonde.

But, and again just asking questions, why would it still be supressed a 2AM EDT? Everybody is home now, right? It seems odd that there is NOTHING on the news about this.

I guess we'll know more tomorrow, unless the supression theories are correct, in which case someone will have deleted this thread.......

It was on the news here when I left the stadium and in my car and then I didn't hear much more. News has been really sketchy.

Their little robot found the device and blew it up is what I heard.

However, if you remember the London bombings, it took alomost an entire month for Al Queda to take formal responsibility.

Not one word about Oklahoma City explosion

University of Oklahoma is in Norman, somewhat south of Oklahoma City. Until recently they were definitely separate metro areas, but they've sort of grown together Although the city of Moore lies between them, at least in some places.

Can people in the stadium see into your bathroom?

Passouts normally are given to people who want to leave at halftime and come back, but they were not issued Saturday.

Didn't you say your son's friend left and came back?

Thanks and the same to you.

Your post was not at all confusing.

I like the way you think.

"While trustworthy, perhaps she's trusting in rumours that she has heard (about the 2nd bomb being detonated)"

According to a statement from OU President David Boren, a second explosive device was found and detonated

Only takes a sec to check the news reports my friend.

reality is what it is.... you won't get a warning when it happens in our streets... this is an image the Israelis are use to and I think it behooves us to get use to it here... for too long our news has been to sterile...
