I remember reading a quote from Anita Bryant in 1977 [. . .] and she said something like that if that came about, it will be OK to "marry a St. Bernard." She was ahead of her time.

If she'd said, "The Berlin Wall," she'd have been two years ahead of her time...

"My love is The Berlin-Wall with whom I am married since 17th of June 1979."

See also http://www.berlinermauer.se/:

"This is my husband. His name is the Berlin Wall and he was born on August 13, 1961. I expect you've heard of him; he is quite a celebrity. He lives in Berlin.
I used to work in a pharmacy. Now I own a museum. My husband's job was to divide East and West Berlin. He is retired now. "

"My attraction to the Berlin Wall and other constructions is BOTH emotional AND sexual. I love them as beings (I use this word intentionally here). I enjoy their company… and I catch fire sexually on the Berlin Wall."
