No, we didn't have bomb threats when I was young and we got in trouble for even thinking of something like that.
Most of us had family that had been in WW2 and there was no fun in bombs, we knew what the real thing did to our loved ones.
It is about time that these young fools, were drafted and got play with the real thing.
Of course we didn't have TV either to tell us what to do.
Our movies and radio programs always ended with the bad guy
punished.
Only the really bad kids did dope and stood on the corner, the gangs, were something we did not want to join.
Yeah, the gangs would rumble . . . w/o guns. Oh those were good old days!
Honestly, I just don't understand kids these days...
My husband and I were raised "old school" - both our sets of parents were born in the mid to late 30s and we both had uncles who served and/or were killed in action (1 died on D-Day, and 1 in Germany just before the end...). We heard the stories and saw the medals growing up. I guess it made a huge difference in the way we viewed things. My mom always had emergency food on hand in the pantry in the basement - just a good habit she used to say.
I honestly don't think kids nowadays have barely any appreciation or understanding of what past generations went through - or how bad things can really get. IMHO most are spoiled rotten!!!
Anyway, these kids will have to grow-up hard and fast if we are ever faced with a real crises in this country. I only hope somewhere inside they know what it means to be brave and courageous...
