Detectives seek expert's help to identify dead child

Associated Press NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Detectives investigating the death of a boy whose remains were found over the weekend in suburban Chicago have called in a facial reconstruction expert to help identify the body, police said Monday.

The remains of the child, who was around 3 years old,were discovered on unincorporated land between Naperville and Warrenville on Saturday....

Detectives have called in a forensic artist who specializes in facial reconstruction to assist in the identification, and authorities expect to have a drawing to work with in about a week, according to the statement.

The boy had short, black hair, weighed around 30 pounds and was wearing a navy blue collarless shirt and navy blue pants, according to the sheriff's department.

An autopsy was performed Sunday, but the DuPage County coroner's office on Monday declined to provide any details, referring inquires to the sheriff's office.

“Any murder gets to you, but especially the murder of a child. The inhumane dumping of a child like that is something that is beyond what we think about as human beings. It’s a horrible tragedy, and we hope we can get to the bottom of it,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett.

An autopsy was performed Sunday, but the DuPage County coroner's office on Monday declined to provide any details, referring inquires to the sheriff's office.

“We’re still trying to find out the identity of the little boy who was dumped in a bag by the side of the road,” Birkett said.

Suspicious Device in Royersford Store (PA - 10/10/05)

Royersford, PA October 10, 2005 - Police and County authorities are investigating a possible suspicious device found outside the Kohls Department Store in Royersford today.

It was around noon today (Monday) when officials say an employee was alerted by a customer of a suspicious package outside the entrance way to the store. The bag was then exploded; however, officials will not say whether or not the bag actually contained explosive materials or not...they did say that a note on the bag indicated that it was a bomb.

Store Still Closed Because of Health Concerns (NY - 10/10/05)

Investigation continues at grocery store

Shoppers in Warsaw want to know if and when the Save-A-Lot and Dollar General Stores are going to reopen. Sunday a flu-like outbreak put Hazmat crews into action. NEWS 10NBC found out the Dollar General Store has been cleared and is now open. The Wyoming County Health Department says tests for methane gas and carbon monoxide have all come back negative and the ventilation system has been checked out.

CHEMICAL LEAK SHUTS DOWN LOCAL FACTORY (TX - 10/10/05)

Monday, October 10, 2005 There were tense moments this morning for workers at Pratt & Whitney here in Wichita Falls. A hydrogen fluoride tank began leaking shortly after 8am this morning. Hazmat teams are still on the scene at this hour. Pratt & Whitney employees were asked to leave the area just as a precaution. It is not clear yet as to what caused the leak.

20 bulletproof vests stolen from Brunswick Community College (NC - 10/10/05)

Oct 10, 2005, 05:38 PM EDT Vital equipment used to protect law enforcement officers in the line of duty is now protecting criminals. Someone stole 20 bulletproof vests from Brunswick Community College over the weekend.
