The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Thousands of police officers went on alert throughout the country Monday as Israelis prepared for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which begins Monday night.

The alert will extend through the month due to fears that Palestinians may attempt to carry out a terror attack during the Jewish holiday season.

Police officers, Border Police staff, volunteers and soldiers were being deployed along the seam line, in synagogues and in crowded places such as shopping areas, beaches and city centers across the country. They were also due to set up roadblocks.

Security forces are urging the public to call the police in the event of a suspicious person, object or vehicle.

The Israel Defense Forces imposed a full closure on the West Bank as part of the alert.

Jerusalem police chief Ilan Franco said Monday morning that there were no specific warnings of a planned attack.

He told Israel Radio that police think terrorists may try to go from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank and from there into Jerusalem, but said the barrier being built around the city is helping to keep it safe.

"The 'Jerusalem envelope' wall has already made it somewhat easier," he said. "We're marking an entire year without a mass terror attack in Jerusalem."

OPINION: It's anyone's guess what the thieves are going to do with the candy. It's a very unhappy speculation-scenario when I start guessing as it's getting too close to Halloween.

I recall an imported candy that was shaped like OBL or was it the WTC towers, that was taken off the market.

Halloween, anyone who allows their kids to go and take candy from stangers, is a fool.

I really have a problem that something I buy in the store, could have been in the control of an unknown group of people for a period of time.
