This doesn't surprise me - that pedophiles would be spread throughout positions where they would have access to kids...

What made the Catholic church case so compelling and frightening was how they used their national (and even international) organization to shuffle and hide pedophiles and how high up some of the people involved seemed to be.

I once belonged to a rural church with an ambitious pastor. He was always coming up with frenetic activities for youth that involved a lot of busing and volunteers and noise and choas. I tried to be a volunteer, but was very alarmed at the risks he was taking on behalf of the church.

When there's a great deal of commotion, it is hard to keep an eye on things. There are reasons why so many firebugs are firehouse volunteers...they go where the fires are.

I'd urge every youth minister to keep the activity level to the point that he can keep an eagle eye on the volunteers.

Nothing happened in my case, but my nature is risk averse and others might call me paranoid.

I don't think anyone should be surprised by the results of the study.

The reason that the Catholic Church got much more press on the issue of sexual abuse is because of the The centralized organization structure of the Catholic Church.

Right. The infiltration of sexual deviants into the Church and then into the hierarchy created a horrific, satanic criminal conspiracy. No question. The very structure of the Church makes Her vulnerable to that kind of attack. The wholesale evil of the twentieth century took the Church unaware. The fact that the Soviet Union was willing to spend decades and millions recruiting and deploying thousands of moles into the Church was inconceviable. It happened though, starting over 70 years ago. We are paying the price today for that lack of foresight and prudence.

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you...

That is partly correct. The Church is:

1 - The largest, oldest and best known Church,
2 - The Clergy are distinguishable by dress and expected conduct
3 - They represent a highly respected segment of society, as do teachers, peace officers and firemen.
4 - The MSM and the left HATE many of the moral positions the Church holds as true.
5 - The organization structure creates "deep pockets" for the trial bar to pursue.
6 - America has a HUGE anti-Catholic, anti-immigrant bigotry in certain classes and regions.

It would never happen if they let volunteers marry.

Been reading Bella Dodd? Her book was pretty convincing but I have run into some who think she was exaggerating the numbers. What I see in the Church today seems to varify her claims.

Married men are more often the perps than single men. Sad but true statistic.

How to destroy America and the Western Culture through the destruction of the Church....

< SNIP >

...E. Both Capitalism and Judaeo-Christian culture must be destroyed before a Communist revolution can succeed
......1. Religious sentiment cannot be destroyed through legislation, as Lenin believed, but must be redirected from the divine to the state
.........a. Terror will only drive Religion underground
.........b. Religion will then reemerge when Leninism fails
.........c. So Religion must be destroyed in the minds of men

......2. Infiltrate religious academies and become priests and clergymen
.........a. Subtly promote heresy within religious organizations
.........b. Infiltrators must act so as to discredit the church
............(1) Cause financial and sexual scandals
............(2) See that this is given a high profile in the news
............(3) Like-minded infiltrators in the media will cooperate

......3. Once religion is discredited from within, continuously promote the idea that only the state can solve the problems that have been traditionally brought before the church

...F. When propagating revolutionary ideas, cloak them in polite terms
......1. National Consensus
......2. Popular Mandate
......3. National Pacification
......4. Pluralism
......5. Global Community
......6. Economic Justice
......7. Economic Democracy
......8. Liberation Theology
......9. Direct Action

...G. Marxists "must enter into every civil, cultural, and political activity in every nation, leavening them as yeast leavens bread."

Note: While reading this, think back over what the left has done to this country.

The government statistics suggest that just under 10% of all students in government schools will be sexually abused by a school employee before graduation.
