Send Vincente a few million illegal aliens to take care of as retribution. If he opens his mouth again against us send him a few million more.

President Bush: "You bet, Mr. President, let all your people into my country and my people will take care of them"
Mr. Fox: "I don't agree with your President Bush, I think Canada is right, oh but, will you still take care of my people?"
Think President Bush can see the forest for the trees????

I hate to say it, but Bush is an IDIOT to pander to this scumbag and continue to allow the uncontrolled invasion of the U.S. across our borders.

I have always though Canada's position on the softwood lumber issue was correct. In addition, they have tried to negotiate a resolution and have offered concessions on exports to the USA. This is a straight up-and-down case of protectionism versus free trade, and there is no point in even contemplating trade treaties unless one applies principals uniformly even when local domestic interest groups will be hurt.

Probably the most profitable industry in Mexico today, is exporting illegal workers. There are no costs involved and only revenue is generated. The Mexican government has done nothing to curb the flow of illegals into the US and, it can be argued, has actually encouraged it.
Mr Fox might want to address that situation before sounding of about NAFTA. Mexico deals harshly with illegals crossing their Southern border. Were we to deal with illegals from Mexico the same way, he'd have a sh*tfit.
Mr Fox should concentrate on sweeping his own doorstep first. Fox has been a total disappointment. He is no different to any other Mexican president. He craps on his populace and expects others to clean up the mess.

Vincente Fox is right on this one. Freepers who understand the details of the softwood lunber dispute find the Bush Administration's actions not only confusing (since they've actually hurt the U.S. lumber industry) but pretty damned disgraceful.

The Mexican leader is working towards one nation - North America, or he will probably want to change that name also.

Thank you.
If you want to dissolve NAFTA, fine. But if you have it, please abide by it.

Fox uses troops on his southern border and denies all services to illegals while assisting the uncontrolled invasion of the U.S.

and there is no point in even contemplating trade treaties unless one applies principals uniformly even when local domestic interest groups will be hurt. The problem is, you can't identify the interest groups who are being helped by our policy. It hurts home builders, new home buyers and pretty much anyone who now has to pay higher prices for lumber. Who does it help? It hasn't helped US lumber mills because they continue to close down or shed jobs.

You can certainly identify those who were intended to be helped by our " policy" - lumber firms in the Pacific Northwest that were experiencing difficulties ( and still are, even with protectionism). The fact that socialism ( for that is what protectionism is) has unintended destructive side-effects on many sectors and often fails to accomplish its intentions in the sector is was supposed to benefit is nothing new.

I'm learning that the Bush Administration, having been slow to purge the puss of the Clinton administration, is still having difficulties with the career civil servants (lifer bureaucrats) who are giving the Bush political appointees a hard time by getting the MSM to call them unqualified "Cronies!"
I had some of this "confirmed" last night on PBS's "Washington Week In Review." The dripping disdain in the liberal voices on that show are actually comical to watch and listen to!!!

At HomeDepot this AM, a sheet of plywood cost me $16.
I have no idea why we'd consider import tariffs with housing boom and Katrina using all the wood.
Stupid. Hurts consumers. Raises the price of housing.
