Record number died crossing border in '05Remote routes, hot summer, economic upturn factors

More people died trying to enter the United States illegally this year than at any time since the Border Patrol began counting in 1998: 460, almost 40 percent more than last year, according to a preliminary tally.

~snip~

"Secure the border for the sake of all Americans, especially those who live right on the border, and for the sake of these desperate people who are trying to cross," Donnelly said. "It is unacceptable for 460 people to die coming here to be somebody's slave. I'm correlating (the deaths) directly to the people who are inviting them, the employers who want cheap, unregulated, subsidized labor."

The social elite of Mexico and South America continue to flood this nation with their poverty-stricken citizens.

And all the while they complain about it, ever cursing the United States as they do it . .

==========================

Latin America's elites embrace Chilean leader - still dislike President George Bush

Bush continued to be unpopular, with only 25 percent among the elites saying they had a very favorable or somewhat favorable view of him. Still, that represented an improvement. In 2003, Bush's positive rating was 12 percent.

Mexicans were the harshest in condemning Bush - 77 percent rated his job performance as poor. Zogby attributed that to Bush's failure to deliver a promised immigration accord with the United States.

In contrast, Bush got the most positive ratings from the elites in Colombia, which has received more than $3 billion in U.S. aid since 2000; Venezuela, where most of the elites are opposed to Chavez' populist policies; and Chile.

Sixty-eight percent among all the elites had a positive opinion of Lagos, a surprising number because Chile contributes a small portion of the sample, Zogby said.

Lula da Silva got a 64 percent overall positive rating, but only 13 percent of respondents had a ''very favorable'' opinion of him, compared with the 32 percent who gave Lagos the top rating.

These numbers are of course grossly deflated.

They sure do say a lot for the leadership's pitiful neglect of our border with Mexico though.

More died on the border this year than any other year since these records were kept . .

Half of Mexico Wants to Move to the U.S.

Whether Mexico gets better or not - Nearly half of Mexican adults would move to the U.S. if they could – and one in five say they would do so illegally, new surveys reveal.

Don't look now, but that 3rd World hellhole has eyes on your job, house, roads, hospitals, retirement, and anything else you used to take for granted as an American.

They'll get it to.

A continuous linear border structure 24ft high topped with razor wire would help stop those needless deaths.

I know. I'm among the minority in Houston. There are 4 Mexican TV channels. And they show better movies than the networks. This city is slowly going to crap.

And the illegals that are captured could be put to work building it -- and save the taxpayers some of that money it costs to enforce our laws.

Mexican craftsmen. What a joke. They would use up most of the budget on injury compensation alone. Mexico wold send it's military to stop any wall being built and to liberate it's people from the "forced slave labor". We would have to send our military to protect the wall project and eventually there would be a war. We would win and then we would have a bigger problem. naa just nuc um it's cheaper.

Yep, and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it.

Too bad this is not exploited across Mexico Along with the
clear message You will die if you try to enter the USA illegally.Printed in Spanish of course-perhaps with a mini
tape recorder--or many of those ghetto blasting psyops machines our military used against Manni Norriega putting this in audio for the illiterate Mexicanos to hear as they approach the border.Of course a much simpler solution might to be another Invasion of Mexico so we could remove their corrupt system of government and replace it with our own.
At least then our government would have the obligation to provide work for American citizens.

These people died of self-inflicted injuries. If they weren't where they weren't supposed to be, they wouldn't have died. What's the problem?

Ya don't think the increase in the percent of deaths has anything to do with the HUGE increase of illegals, hmm?
