thanks.. I will go over for a bit! BBL
It was a breath of fresh air.
Shame you could not see his face I saw clip or photo on TV and he looked very good much more relaxed than he has for a while.
Makes you glad Laura's friends introduced her to George.
Maybe you could find someone for Cathy.
Make it a surprise.
We are truly blessed to be led and protected by this group. Gen. Myers has been a fantastic Chairman of the JC .. this has to be a bittersweet day for him. He deserves a wonderful next chapter. I think Gen. Pace will be no less a determined, decent and wonderful Chairman. God bless him and his family.
These ceremonies are resplendent in ceremonial traditions and goosebumps .. I would've loved being a military bride.
This is quite a study in pensive profiles
Gen. Pace has a lovely wife
Gen. Pace's son is also a Marine
you know I did try a few times. She is very withdrawn. I believe she lives her life thru books & the characters in them. Never know the things in her life that made her this way. We dont' have a lot in common still but for old times sake I check in with her now & then. Our parents were friends/neighbors for years & hers are both dead & just my mom remains. I know her mom was not an active /outdoorish person & considered me a tomboy (true). Maybe she just felt it wasn't lady like etc to walk on the edge of life a bit. Like I said we are note close & the few times we went out to dinner the conversations were NOT about personal matters/life. If I would try to get there, they conversation quickly went elsewhere.
Great pix additions! thanks
night eleanor. 14 angels to guard & protect you. I too am going to look for the sandman shortly
GNight snugs, sleep well
In and out tonight............keep PRAYING for this dear man!
I do so daily
I am looking forward to watching Gen. Pace take on the senate.

Pace thanked President Bush for his confidence in him and for the president's steadfast leadership and unwavering support for men and women in uniform.
"Every single one of us in uniform knows that you are leading us and know that you are supporting us at the same time, and it makes a huge difference to each and every one of us," Pace said." When he was speaking these words, he was looking totally at W directly, and spoke them slowly, and with such honor and feeling .. it was very moving. We are lucky to have such a great Chairman of the JC.
I watched it just now on C_Span and it was very touching, I did reach for the hanky at that point
Come January 21st of 2009 George W. Bush will no longer welcome any reporters on his and Laura's Ranch in Crawford Texas as he and Laura quietly retires to their seclusion. There will be no interviews where George W. Bush criticizes the current or former President, he will continue to be the Statesman he is. The day will come when our Grandchildren will read about this great leader, and the people who have watched this President know this

Could be just the way her brain was built. Like Laura Bush, she derives a great deal of pleasure from reading. I do, too.
The world of ideas is compelling. It isn't just fantasy escape. Books wouldn't be as compelling if they didn't hinge their plots or themes on fascinating ideas or times or places to explore. I'm don't particularly like romance novels, for instance. The last book I read was Freakonomics and it was fun, because it brought up new ideas.
It may be that your friend is just too shy to discuss ideas with other people (they are too critical of the ideas perhaps), and that is why she revels in ideas privately.
There may be someone out there like her that could share her mental world.
Maybe before you go out again you could ask her to recommend a book, and then let her take the lead in discussing it, just mostly listening after you read it and meet her, to find out more about her.
Just an off the wall idea here. I'm curious about her now.
