Owen is out Sep 30 2005 12:42 PM
By TimChapman
According to a very reliable source close to the White House vetting process for the next nominee, Priscilla Owen has withdrawn her name from the process.
With Owen out, conservatives have lost one of the better women on the short list.
Presumably you don't have enough to worry about.
That is funny, but very disgusting.
I think he would have said:
"I am the Chief Justice of the United States..."
Period.

I know, I can't stand the suspense. This is the moment we have been speculating about, waiting for and hoping for for sooo long now. Let's just do it.
I assume next week.
I doubt he'd do it during the weekend and allow the MSM the news cycle. He needs to announce early enough to attempt to complete it, even with threat of filibuster, before the holiday break.
Do you practice being hysterically wrong or is it natural?
I would prefer if he let the Sunday talk shows stew over all garbage in the MSM currently, then announce it on Monday during Rush's show to ange libs who believe he is doing it to distract from other Fake stories from the MSM.
And I will bet cash money it is someone that hasn't really been discussed.
That man is your next Supreme Court Justice, all the way from Philadelphia via way of Princeton and Yale, the hero of Casey v. PP, give it up for Sam "Scalito" Alito.
Terri's "law" was idiotic crap. The fact he didn't go along with the howling mob raises him high in my estimation.
What do you mean by "too real" conservatives?
too = two.
Post in haste, correct at leisure.
Unless Bush is content on choosing Chavez or Streisand for the high court, the moonbats are going to fight tooth and nail.
Reliable Source and his sister Kate.
I agree. We'll just have to live with the suspense for a few more days.
I was just commenting to my wife this morning that I hoped she would be THE pick.
I actually like how he did it before. What was it, Tuesday? Or Wednesday? He played cat and mouse all day with a smirk on his face, I thought it was fabulous. It drove people of all ideologies up the wall he could keep a secret in D.C. then shortly let the Senators in on it right before the primetime address, they promptly leaked of course.
Networks were forced to cover it because they didn't know who it would be, and he controlled how Roberts was revealed to the public first.
I agree the Sunday talk shows should be left to focus on outdated stories. Why give them first start at defining the candidate?
"I can't say I blame her. The Dems dragged her through the ringer before she finally got confirmed. No one in their right mind would want to go through that again."
Look at it this way: If she wasn't willing to face the heat, she didn't want to be a SCJ badly enough. I want someone who, among other things (constructionist, etc.), absolutely BURNS to get this position. Such passion will stand right up to Schumer and Kennedy.
Yes, come on! Where's my present? Where's my beautifully wrapped box with the strict originalist nominee inside?
That's what McClellan has indicated.
