Owen is out Sep 30 2005 12:42 PM
By TimChapman
According to a very reliable source close to the White House vetting process for the next nominee, Priscilla Owen has withdrawn her name from the process.
With Owen out, conservatives have lost one of the better women on the short list.
Sorry, but some of W's choices of friends don't inspire me. Bill Clinton, Ken Lay, Saudi princes, etc. And just saying she's a Christian and goes to church doesn't move me either - see Bill Clinton.
dang, did i ruin your bit?? sorry!
You know little about Miers, so you're skeptical. Bush knows MORE about her than you ever will.
Why would he pick solid conservative judges for the first five years of his Presidency, and then suddenly pick a Souter? It makes no sense.
The President knows she's no Souter. You don't. Thus the panic sweeping this forum.
She an Alberrrrrrto are good friends??
Now I KNOW we are in trouble.
The problem isn't the fact that she never served as a judge.
The problem is that her only apparent qualifications are her closeness to the Bush family, her age, the fact that she contributed to Dems in the RECENT past (1991 was only about 10 years ago or so), and the fact that she is a blank slate - nobody knows where she stands on political issues.
Not to mention that fact that there were other candidates - Brown and Owens for example out there with sterling qualifications.
Read Mark Levin who had nothing but priase for Roberts. He calls it as it is and he is a very bright man and a straight down the line supporter of Bush.
Bush has slapped the collective faces of every conservative who nominated him with this atrocious action.
The President knows where she stands on political issues. You don't. But don't let that keep you from passing immediate judgment and continuing your hissy fit.
"The President knows where she stands on political issues. You don't. But don't let that keep you from passing immediate judgment and continuing your hissy fit."
So do, apparently, the Dems, who seem to have little problem with this individual, which is not good.
Expressing my opinion on a political subject is both a right and a responsibility in a free Republic. Questioning the wisdom of government leaders is considered a "hissy fit" in only an autocratic state - towards which we are gradually stumbling - but I hadn't thought we yet arrived there.
The rush to judgment by many here at this forum has been quite amazing.
PLACEMARKING.
Right behind you.
Right behind YOU...
Funny how nobody remembers stuff like THIS when it doesn't advance their agenda, isn't it?
High five! We were right -- we read this here.
