"Congress shall make no law abridging the Freedom of Speech" ... with the exception that preaching or teaching against homosexuality is a federal crime.

There is an Amendment process. If they want the First Amendment to read differently, they should start the wheels in motion.

This is the legislation that lead canada to ban the bible as hate literature.

It may not contain all the necessary pieces to do all that but it is a major piece of it.

Criminalizing speach and thought is the highway to get us there.

The articles of all that befell canada have all been posted here and can be looked up and compared with this.

The House of Representatives has approved a bill that includes a hate crimes amendment.

Good luck getting that past the 1st Ammendment.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Another reason why some of us shake our heads in wonder that some of you actually think that voting Republican and giving money to Republican candidates is not a total waste of time. The pubbies, who support this nonsense, are laughing all the way to the bank with your hard earned money. Suckers!

Who are the Republicans who voted in favor of "hate crimes" amendment? Do you have a list, or link that works?

Is a 'transgender' person someone who is evolving into another gender?

"but some fear the Senate will pass the hate crimes provision as is and send it to the President for his signature."

Is this something Pres. Bush can veto if at passes the Senate before getting "cleaned up"?

So, the Romans 1 and 1Cor 6 are now illegal according to the Congress? May as well get a jail cell ready for any bible-believing pastor who rightfully defies on that abominable legislation. I'll gladly join them.

So, what is conservative about the GOP-led Congress? Nothing that I can see. If it wasnt' for all of the phoney partisanship, I couldn't tell one party from mthe other.

RINO Jim Kolbe was one of the very few Republicans who voted for the amendment to this "Child Safety" legislation which provides "hate crimes protections" (ie. special rights) for those who have chosen a deviant same-sex lifestyle (aka. "gays" or "homosexuals") and those who have had or want to have their genitalia surgically mutilated or removed to make them cosmetically appear as a member of the opposite sex (aka. "transgenders" or "transexuals").
Since being forced to admit to his chosen lifestyle (ie. coming out), and despite his promises at the time that his voting habits would not change, RINO Rep. Kolbe has become a champion for the radical gay agenda and can't seem to find gay agenda promoting legislation that he wont sponsor or vote for. His voting record and public statements on this issue are totally at odds with the Republican Party Platform.

The good news is that RINO Jim Kolbe is being challenged by a conservative Republican in the 2006 Primary Election. Randy Graf is a solid pro-life, pro-family, pro-border security Reagan Republican who served successfully as the House Majority Whip in the Arizona House of Representatives.

Randy Graf deserves your support. You can learn more about Randy Graf and how to support him by visiting his website at http://www.votegraf.com. Your help is desperately needed as Jim Kolbe was able to outspend Randy Graf by 10-1 in last years Primary Election.

I hate "hate". It should be a crime. So should boredom. Outlaw it. I also don't like being annoyed. Outlaw that too. And don't get me started on Celine Dion ....

More LBJ/FDR elastic Commerce Clause:

Congress makes the following findings:

~snip~

(6) Such violence substantially affects interstate commerce in many ways, including--

(A) by impeding the movement of members of targeted groups and forcing such members to move across State lines to escape the incidence or risk of such violence; and

(B) by preventing members of targeted groups from purchasing goods and services, obtaining or sustaining employment, or participating in other commercial activity.

(7) Perpetrators cross State lines to commit such violence.

(8) Channels, facilities, and instrumentalities of interstate commerce are used to facilitate the commission of such violence.

(9) Such violence is committed using articles that have traveled in interstate commerce.

This could make reading from the Torah in a temple illegal.
That in itself skates pretty close to being a "hate crime."
Maybe a good reason why thought should not be regulated by law.

That could make preaching or teaching against homosexuality a federal crime. It has gotten almost no news coverage, but critics say it poses a major threat to religious liberties

Mr. Elk, it maybe time to charge once again.

Once, a short time ago, I thought that Natural Law and Truth would keep a foothold here in America while the rest of the West ran off the cliff of nihilism.

It seems the GOP congress is trying to make up for lost time.
