14 dogs were shot at a school that was used as an evacuation center, and some blame the police. CNN's Anderson Cooper reports.

Additionally, from the comments section at the blog, one of the people who discovered this posted there were two schools where pets had been left behind where the animals were shot.
The people had evacuated to the schools, and were told they could bring pets. They had to evacuate again, and were told they could not bring pets. They left food and water and information-- contact information, info about their pet, etc. All were shot.
Possible law enforcement involvement. Case has been referred to the State's Attorney.
Anderson Cooper is running low on hurricane stories.
There has been a lot of misreporting regarding the events in Louisiana. I would give this one the same amount of skepticism as I would the "stories" that came out of the SuperDome and the Convention Center.
no, it's true. Go the link and listen to the audio.
That link above doesn't really work - just go to the main page - it's there on the right

Sorry, I didn't know how to link directly to the video. If you go to the link, http://www.cnn.com/video/, the story is titled "Dogs killed at evacuation center" and it runs 2 min, 32 sec.

Did YOU see the story? I did and it's an outrage. People left food (not even eaten before they were killed) and wrote on the walls begging not to harm these dogs they were loved pets.... the shot gun shells were still on the floor and the dogs were not even humanely killed, most were allowed to bleed to death... the cop(s) need to be found and punished.
Police forget it, must be Bush fault
More bad PR for NOLA police: Looting and shooting.
Again, according to ericsdogblog, there is a "$5000 reward offered for dog shooters."
Hesitated to ping-- your call on wheter to put this out or not. The video is graphic, and the story is horrific.
Nonetheless, I think it's important for people to know what happened, and for those responsible to be brought to justice.
What's being lost in the Katrina story is that New Orleans -- bluest of blue cities -- is proof of the utter failure of Liberalism, at every level.
Agreed.
Lol so was Rita. Don't forget she was also Bush fault.
Hell, at this point, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was police, both NO and state, who were shooting at the rescue helicopters. It seems the reason the governor on down wanted the feds kept out was fear of their corruption being uncovered.
How unbelievably cruel. These people are rotten : (
It's not lost here. What's lost is that the Republicans are complicit in covering up the crimes of the democrat elected officials against the people of the city that made the devastation so much worse than it had to be. I'm sick to death of the republicans covering, condoning, and lying for these drecks. I have no idea, as usual, what I can do about it.
Guess I been "fooled again."
The sheriff, Jack Stephens, said the shells look like the ones his deputies use. He said he would prosecute any of his men who did this to the full extent of the law.
What is the matter with the people of Louisiana? Animal-killer cops, people too lazy to care about evacuating to save their own lives, police deserting their sworn duty, public officials too concerned about their fiefdoms to admit they couldn't handle a disaster. Each story tarnishes further whatever good reputation existed for the Pelican State and its people.
Apologies for the duplicate-- I did a search, but didn't find your earlier post.
