I do not allow hunting on my property. I well understand why anyone would hunt and kill for survival, but I do not understand how anyone could derive pleasure from killing and subjecting animals to pain and terror.

Have you ever seen a deer ripped half to death in winter because there was too little food for it to have the strength to escape, dragging what's left of it by its remaining front legs until the blood loss can kill it?

I don't understand how anyone could derive think that is less pain and terror than being shot. But then again, I think that few people other than those who are avid hunters have respect for wild animals these days.

If you don't like to hunt, don't hunt. You are well within your rights to control hunting on your property as well.

I would wager that you haven't tried hunting, so you don't understand the appeal. That's OK. More for me!

(subjecting animals to pain and terror.)

Would you rather they be strapped down and given a lethal injection. Better yet, we could just read them posts like yours until we bore them to death. I'm also a landowner, I've got 3 sections that I've been running a hunting operation on for close to 25 years, add to that, the fact that I've been a hunter for most of my 50+ years, I've never seen this pain and terror you suggest.

I agree 100%. On one thread recently about a bunch of young men illegally hunting, and often leaving the deer to die slowly, I told of a buck who wanders on my property (rural, no fences, and I have no dog) who someone shot with an arrow. It stuck in his right hind quarters for several weeks, but it finally sloughed out and he appears to be healing. Viciously and needlessly cruel.
