After Action Report - Weekly Wednesday Tucson Military Recruiting Center Protest
9/29/2005 | Wayne Boettcher

Posted on 09/29/2005 5:36:02 PM PDT by \/\/ayne

It was a bright morning on Wednesday, September 28th as I neared the Military Recruitment Center at 2302 E.Speedway in Tucson, Arizona. For some time now "peace" activists had been gathering there to hinder Armed Forces recruitment during wartime. Although technically illegal under US Code Title 18, Part I, Chapter 115, § 2388, * no federal agency would dare break the silent code of pretended ignorance that protects American liberals engaged in criminal activity. And if the Feds wouldn't arrest anyone under that law, neither would the local constabulary, according to a Tucson Police Officer.

However, the "Raging Commies Grannies" had been arrested recently for trespassing, when they stormed the offices of the Center in a desperate bid for publicity. The ploy worked as pictures of the hard-core liberal activists disguised as ordinary grandmothers festooned the pages of many liberal media outlets. The charges were soon dropped. Flush with victory, the number of "anti-war" sign wavers grew from Wednesday to Wednesday. Challenging them were only a few brave women from a local Marine parents group.

Small as the opposition was, the sight of anyone opposing their UN flags and anti-George Bush posters had enraged one moonbat to the point of frenzy. Shrieking with hate, the aggressive peacenik verbally attacked one of the American flag waving moms, getting so close as to physically contact her. The police were called and no one was arrested, but now an officer is assigned to monitor the weekly activities of the violent peace lovers. All this had happened at previous protests; this was my first one there.

As I arrived at 8:00 am the sidewalks were already crammed with people, flags, signs and posters. It turns out both sides have been coming early, about 7:00 am. In front of the military offices seemed to be a large group. I noticed a UN Flag. Across the street were just a few young ladies with a pro troops sign. I parked across the street as well, where the young ladies informed me that on the full side of the street one entire corner and half the other sidewalk were Pro Troop people! Closer examination of posters and flags confirmed this great news. Since the peacenik attack, some veterans had showed up on the good side, including a large family of patriotic Americans. This group, the last to leave that day, deserves more mention.

The father, an Army veteran and pastor of a thriving local church, lost a Marine son recently overseas. His daughter (one of those young ladies) starts Marine basic training in November. His two teenage sons also want to join the Marines when they are of age. The pastors wife waved gigantic flags and posters with strength of purpose and fortitude that belied her diminutive stature. This family were the only pro Americans to make it to last week's gigantic "anti-war" protest on September 24. Surrounded by hundreds of cursing, shoving liberals upon their arrival, the small group quickly formed a prayer circle and invoked the protection of Jesus. After a few minutes, the hundreds were gone, leaving only that family! Maybe it was only a coincidence and the riotous peacemongering crowd were just about to leave anyway. What do you think?

But I digress. On this day the moonbats had only about 20 souls. The Good Guys had about 15, but were more strategically placed. Across the big street I unfurled the new and improved "Say No To Communism" sign as both sides watched expectantly to see who this new arrival was. The liberals laughed with forced humor as they got what I was saying while some of my own side misinterpreted the sign and thought I was pro Communist! Their friends soon straightened them out, however. Also, I was shouting "Say no to Communism!"

It was pretty boring on that side so I went across the big street and met some more pro Americans. There were no freepers but a lot of great people standing up for America. Now I was just across the small street from the "anti-war" crowd, who were surprisingly peaceful today. One guy snorted at my sign, saying something to the effect of "That's ridiculous."

"Are you a Communist, Sir?" I asked.

"No, I'm not but a lot of my friends are!" he declared. (I refrained from asking 'Don't you mean "Comrades?")

"Won't you take some literature on Communism?" I implored as I offered him a printed copy of the column "The killing machine that is Marxism" by Professor R. J. Rummel. "You could tell your Communist friends all about it."

"I already know all about it!" he replied.

"Are you sure about that, Sir? Why not just read this and find out if you really do?"

It went on like this for a while and he finally accepted the article. Although I found out later he was one of the most argumentative of the bunch, he wasn't very rude when I talked to him. Maybe that's because I'm 6' 8" tall and 300 lbs. Or maybe it's because I have a nice smile. Either way, I got about six "anti-war" protesters to accept a printed copy of the Rummel column during the protest, including a lady that sang the end of "God Bless America" along with me and a retired economics professor who had lived in the Depression. The spry Prof promised to check the article for accuracy and get back to me at the next protest we were both at. He admitted the economy was good "for right now." Although I had articles on WMD and terrorist/Iraq connections, too, I didn't get a chance to give them out this time.

I did go to the U.S. Army office and give them a positive two page report I had written up on my US Army service time to help them recruit soldiers. That's a great legal way to counter these illegal military recruitment hindering efforts. The sergeant was puzzled as to what the anti-war people really wanted. It's a mystery to most people; some say it's just hatred for President Bush. Others, like me, say it's that and Communism!

Early on the "anti-war" group placed a huge A-frame sign in the median requesting the military be kept of schools. I happen to know that A-frame median signs are illegal in Tucson and I shouted out that it was so. I was ignored. Others told them as well, to no avail. The police officer on duty there checked in with his boss, who proclaimed that the sign was legal if political. However, the intrepid officer also asked the city sign code department and found out that any A-frame sign in the median is indeed illegal. By that time the moonbats were gone (early) but next week the sign will be disallowed.

All in all, it was a great time and it sure felt good to be out in the sun battling communism, getting exercise and singing patriotic songs. Sorry, I have no pictures except of the sign which I made with my old webcam. The Tucson Weekly Wednesday War protest is a great place to be, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am every week. Hope to see you there some time, and together we will stand up for our troops and America!

Well Done!

but now an officer is assigned to monitor the weekly activities of the violent peace lovers.

As Doctor Raoul Deming of Takoma Park, Md likes to say, "Peace Protesters be peaceful. Stop the left-wing violence!"

Great report. Hopefully, I can be there next Wednesday. We get a lot of e-mail alerts from the local Republican Party about these pro-troops rallies.

Thanks for the excellent report. I live in Flagstaff, Arizona's other "City of Evil."

Domestic traitors are a greatest danger to America than any foreign terrorist ever spawned.
