A Taxreform bump for you all.

If you would like to be added to this ping list let me know.

John Linder in the House(HR25) & Saxby Chambliss Senate(S25) offer a comprehensive bill to kill all income and SS/Medicare payroll taxes outright and replace them with with a national retail sales tax administered by the states.

H.R.25,S.25
A bill to promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national retail sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.

Refer for additional information:

Very interesting indeed! Thanks for the ping!

I haven't had time to look this over in depth yet as I am very busy at present dealing with the results of Hurricane Rita but I STRONGLY suspect that it supports what many of us have been arguing all along!

"In some ways, Social Security reform is even more important than tax reform because it avoids dramatic increases over time in payroll taxes that would otherwise be needed to pay benefits to the elderly."

Bears repeating. This is one of the many things about tax reform that the flat taxers just don't get.

I have FINALLY managed to find the time to sit down and read this study and conclude that:

1. ANY objective and honest reader will be convinced, beyond any shadow of a doubt, of the need for our current income tax system to go where it so properly belongs. Onto the ash heap of history!

2. For a multitude of reasons, most of which this study alludes to, the very best replacement for the income tax system is a broad based point of sale retail sales tax such as that described in legislation (HR25/S25 the Fairtax bill)currently pending before both houses of Congress!

3. This study validates, in every respect, what the fairtaxers and their predecessors at CATS have been saying for more than a decade now and moves us further toward the goal of getting this done for the good of ALL Americans!

Go back on the gold standard and get rid of social security.

There, I just solved both problems.

Where do I pick up my check?
