I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that the local white kids have been raised to think that such a menial job is beneath them. Also we've become pretty lazy as a nation and don't expect our kids to work.

I went to high school in an affluent community and even though I worked (at a movie theatre and then a video store), it amazed me how many of my classmates just didn't work and, as a result, didn't have much of a work ethic when they hit "the real world." I must admit, however, that even I considered Mickey D's to be "Haitian work" as that's who dominated the local fast food work force in my community at the time.

I did farmwork as did most male teens in my community, the girls waited tables, and did babysitting etc. Race wasn't an issue because we were all white.
