Gov. Pataki put the International Freedom Center out of its misery yesterday. Good for him.
"There remains too much opposi tion, too much controversy over the programming of the IFC, and we must move forward with our first priority the creation of an inspiring memorial," Pataki said. "The IFC cannot be located on the memorial quadrant."
Again, good for the governor.
And, if you don't mind, we'll indulge in a little back-patting, too of ourselves.
After all, from the moment Debra Burlingame whose brother was a pilot of one of the hijacked 9/11 planes blew the whistle on the Freedom Center, The Post waged a relentless fight to keep it away from Ground Zero.
Month after month, we made the case for moving it elsewhere, imploring the governor and mayor to take action.
"The International Freedom Center is to be a 250,000-square-foot museum with a self-professed mission to 'harness the power of history and use it as a springboard for contemporary dialogue and debate' on the meaning of freedom," we wrote back in June.
" 'Dialogue and debate,' huh?
"Time to reach for the revolver.

Ms. Burlingame was a majority of one!
Her ceaseless effort to get this travesty off that hallowed ground is to be commended.

I don't think they're moving the IFC plans too far away, actually I have heard it will be right across the street at a bank, or the location of a former bank.
We'll need to build a huge wall to block it from existence if they do because you know they will try to have outside exhibits to look as thought they are part of what is close by.
They will not stop, and as soon as we stop beating them back they will return. Vile people these Liberals.

We need to have the name of the Bank well publicized if they allow this travesty in their building.

I agree.
I posted info from www.takebackthememorial.org many times and constantly encouraged Freepers to sign the on-line petition and e-mail Pataki, the LMDC, etc.
It worked. We made it work. I love it when conservative activists put their heads together. When we do, we're almost unbeatable!
A major thank you to all Freepers who told others about the travesty of the IFC and decided to do something about it.

Must be a bad day over at the DUmpster! LOL!
I haven't checked but I would bet they're bashing President Bush, Karl Rove, or us for this.
Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! LOL!

I find it annoying and ironic that he only put the kabbosh on it after Hillary came out against it last week. He should have done this much sooner. That said, at least the idea is scrapped.

I thought the same thing, she just stuck her wet finger in the air and felt which way the wind was blowing along with a little insider information probably.
She did the same thing her hubby use to do, she deserves no kudos what so ever.
