People always take and interpret things the way it serves them best that moment. We are "unilateral" and this is bad, or so we're told by the French who must have acted "multilateral" in the Ivory Coast, detonating nukes in the Pacific (Boy the locals there love them for that!), Algeria, and in other places. People always like to interpret these things in a way that suits them in that moment.

We have plans in case LA gets flooded; CA is hit by an earthquake or catches fire. We have plans for a nuclear war. We have plans for war against Russia itself (Unlikely)! The statement that we are planning for a war against XYZ is more media garbage. Of course we are! What do you think all those staff planners at the Pentagon, Army groups, and in Corps and Divisions do? It's their bread and butter to plan. We have plans to go back into the Balkans, plans for the defense of Korea........ Do we have plans for an attack on Iran? Oh yea! But in this case they intentionally misconstrue the fact that we all plan for many contingencies in order to paint the US as an aggressor.
