PORTSMOUTH — Aaron C. Mucthison on Wednesday pleaded guilty to felony child neglect, the latest in a series of criminal convictions that resulted from the accidental shooting of his daughter.
Weeks before the January shooting, Mucthison bought a gun from a crack addict who said he’d stolen it from someone’s house.
Then 20 , Mucthison was a felon and should not have had the gun.
But he carried it with him to protect his trade, which he told police was selling crack cocaine.
Mucthison was playing with his weapon and rolling a marijuana “blunt” on the January night he accidentally shot his 16-month-old daughter in the back, according to a confession entered into evidence on Wednesday in Circuit Court.
“And as I’m getting to light my weed up, I turned my hand to move the gun and that’s when I guess my hand busted the wrong way and the gun shot my daughter,” Mucthison said in the talk with police. “I, well, I shot my daughter.”
At first, she didn’t cry.
“She just looked at me,” he said.
He saw a bullet hole in a wall. He thought that he’d missed her.
“I picked her up about to kiss her and hug her, and I see the blood coming out of her back,” he said.
“I seen the little bullet hole and all.”
Mucthison told a detective he considered taking his own life.
He fled to a house reputed for drug sales. Police found him hiding out there.
“I would never hurt my daughter, man,” he later told a detective.
“I swear to God.”
She needed surgery to repair her intestines.
In an interview, Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney Earle C. Mobley said the little girl is recovering with family in New Jersey .
“The long-term prognosis is still undetermined,” Mobley said.

What does not add up here. I thought no one under 16 could be convicted of a felony. I also thought felony was good for serious prison time.
The kid was 16 months, implying he had been out for at least 25 months.
No matter how you slice it, he was not in prison long enough for his first felony.
Anyways, it's all whitey's fault in some way I'm sure. Whitey forced him not to go to school. Whitey forced him to be a drug dealer, then he was pulled over and busted because cops are racist.
We'll have to see how long he is put away for for this incident.
The mother should be put away as well, and the kid put up for adoption where at least she may have a chance.
The mother is just as responsible for knowingly exposing the kid to drugs and criminal activity. This is what the kid learns and this is how the cycle keeps repeating itself generation after generation.

How can you be partially killed?
If for such a stupid act I would have killed one of my daughters, no trial required, only an inquest. I have no doubts as to where the next round would have instantly gone.
