I did, a long time ago. He knows that I still honor him.
I was the only one of 6 sons to even consider going into the military. I think that meant a lot to him. He knows that I recognized that he was protecting our freedom.
I was bit of a gearhead in HS and wanted to fly jets, so I asked him which military branch had the best pilots. He said go to the Naval Academy.
After a long admission process, the Naval Academy decided I didn't make the cut (failed the color blind test).
I didn't do it for Pop, I did it because I wanted to serve (and kill the most bad guys).
But I was too much of an egotist to go any other way than the best of the best, so I'm a civilian. We all have our failures.
