On the surface it seems plausible. But Mushie did a have a choice back in 2001. Uncle Sam "asked" if he would play, and there were no strings. The good General knows that have diminutive insurgency would lessen upheaval. The blessings of the US can also bolster his military.
That said, finding OBL may be purposely slow by Pakistan leadership. If finding OBL shortens US backing, then Mushie may feel the heat if locals know the Calvary won't show up.
