Hey Freepers, Bet money on one thing. The crooked DA of Travis county will drag out his witch hunt through the election year.
Bet money that he will prevent the issue from going to any trial or closure format as long as he can. Earle is hoping to mess with Delay's re-election chances. If he really had anything, it would not have taken this long for the stacked grand jury to issue an indictment.
That's just the reality of it. Earle is a crook. His political party games should have been enough to get rid of him years ago, yet he is still allowed to play the political witch hunts.
Keep in mind, however, they tried the same thing with Kay, and she came out golden. If Delay is shown innocent, two things should happen. Delay should be reinstated as Majority Leader, since he is the only one who has really moved the Republican agenda on the hill. And Ronnie Earle should be banned from practicing law in the state of Texas.
Earl runs these witch hunts at every Republican he can. State law regulates that any elected official who misuses the authority of their office is in violation of the law. Earle crossed that line years ago.
Yep. The news will play this as big...but its just a charge. The fact that a grand jury set up in democrat area would go after Delay is no shock.
Whatever Delay did (or did not do) is certainly not as serious as the theft of national security-related documents as perpetrated by Sandy Burlgar. Yet Delay's actions will be in the news all year, as you predict.
Berger gets a $50K fine and very little publicity. But we can be sure that the MSM will plaster this story all over TV and the print media for the next year.
Yep you called it.
Since this sham indictment is affecting our whole country, shouldn't DeLay be entitled to an immediate trial? Afterall, this d*ckhead Ronnie Earle has had two years to put his case together. I'm hoping DeLay's attys are filing whatever is necessary to get the trial started immediately, if there is such a recourse.
The problem with indicting Delay is now the Hammer has the full protection of the law, you know all those pesky civil rights like "innoncent until proven guilty", right to speedy trial, etc. He may even have an honest judge (remember the local D judges in Fla who kept throwing out Gore's case?). The Hammer will have top notch legal help. I doubt Earle lays a glove on him and I bet this resolves in Delay's favor in the next 6 months.
Does a defendant have the right to a speedy trial in Texas?
Earle didn't get U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and he will not get Tom Delay. Smoke and mirrors that it.
Aw, crap.
Can a brilliant DA from Texas, get the FBI to tackle the case of Sen. Hillary stealing 900+ FBI files? Can you say horsesh-t? Knew ya could. (The FBI doesn't really give a big rats a**.)
The followers of the Democrat politicians are emotional in make-up, not ethical. They are akin the the German citizens in the 30's who felt they were victimized by the Jews.
Anyone who claims they will provide a solution to the problem (as they see it) and provide benefits from the government at the same time, will get a vote. That's what the democrats have been doing, portraying themselves as victims of republicans. Look at Sheehan, Katrina, Iraq, Bush, the Supreme Court....it's ubiquitious.
Liberalism makes people do crazy things, including punishing the innocent in the name of progress.
One thing I've learned - if you are a high profile political figure, move to an area away from a Democrat DA. They will get you if they can.
I have a friend right now being persecuted by a government agency, no doubt because she was a little too effective on the republican side. The person prosecuting that case has already gotten a promotion.
I bet Rush wishes he never moved to Palm Beach.
And the Democrats are wetting their pants in orgasmiac joy of getting DeLay!
Here's my bet:
Serious Texan money to flow into Travis County to unseat Earle.
