You're right. Sometimes it all comes together.

If things were far better, I'd break out the Hannibal Smith "I love it when a plan comes together" pic.

Umm all ready been announced that in keeping with the Republican Caucuses rules

TOM DELAY SAYS HE WILL STEP ASIDE AS HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER FOLLOWING INDICTMENT: 'I have notified the Speaker that I will temporarily step aside from my position as majority leader pursuant to rules of the House Republican Conference and the actions of the Travis County District Attorney today' ... Delay Spokesman: 'These charges have no basis in the facts or the law. This is just another example of Ronnie Earle misusing his office for partisan vendettas'... MORE... Hastert taps Rep. David Dreier [CA] for leadership duties...

You are exactly right. Unfortunately just as there is an elitist left there is also the elitist right. They consist manly of the NRO Corner guys: Jpod, Lowry and Goldberg. And in my opinion their flaw is to prove that they are not mouthpieces for the administration. In doing so they start sounding like everyone else. Bush definitely warrants some criticism but these guys have the need to show us how "smart" they are.

Who is the prosecutor? Does he have a record of selectively bringing charges against Republicans?

Ronnie Earle, DA in the peoples republic of Austin. "Does he have a record of selectively bringing charges against Republicans" is sort of like asking "Does dan rather have a history of trying to take down politicians named Bush". This ass-clown brought a totally empty indictment against Kay Bailey-Hutchinson, and has prosecuted numerous other GOP politicians with no case whatsoever.

The GOP has an ethics rule that any member who is under indictment must step down from any leadership position. When they started to amend the rule to allow members to retain their position through the course of due process so that politically motivated indictments would not topple leaders, the democrats and the media of course decried such a scandalous rule change. Of course they never bothered to mention that this type of indictment would not affect a democrat since the democrats have no such ethics rules against themselves.

Here is the thing about libs that some people don't realize.. They will say anything to get back into power and they will do anything to get back into power.. All they care about is power. They don't care about the deficit, they don't care about the border, they don't about the economy, and they don't care about America.. All they care about is power...

NO NO NO!

But, then, Spectre was allowed to stay on the judicial committee, and worse, was backed by Bush during the primary.

Hastert is nominating or suggesting or recommending Drier to the House GOP.

It's not a done deal yet.

Most states have something known as speedy trial. I am not sure about Texas. I do not understand the hysteria on this thread. Any freeper worth their screen name has known what the little creep Ronnie Earle has been planning. It has been no secret for a year, and the prosecutors office has obviously been leaking info otherwise the dem websites would not have been so excited recently. It is only an indictment by a partisan hack, and Tom Delay has been planning for this for awhile.

I think Delay should hire Carville and Begalla to go on all the talking head shows and shout and spit about "what we have here is an out of control, partisan, democratic prosecutor!"

That's BS. Like I said, *generally* they don't indict at this level unless they feel they have something substantial.

Man I don't know what part of the country your from but you don't know much about Texas politics, We are after all the origin of LBJ who perhaps set the standard as a political trickster.

The way the Grand Jury system works in Texas makes it virtually certain if a prosecutor is in the right county and pushes hard enough he could literally indict a "ham sandwitch". This is Travis County where democrats and dirty politics is the name of the game.

I've followed it somewhat and people tell me there is no evidence and therefore no real chance this will go to trial. There is a sham indictment on a PAC (set up by DeLay's people) election funds case, I've heard this case won't hold water. And DeLay's only connection to this case is his participation in the founding of the PAC in question. This is Texas politics because our Constitution is a little different and the structure of our Counties might have been set with political trickery in mind. wink wink.

Of course that's been denied, But believe me this is Texas partisan politics.

"Except Rush who always has an optimistic outlook."
Hey, Rush! That 30 yr. old playbook the Democrats are using looks like it's working pretty well.

Bullschitt.

One count of conspiracy from a blackmailing D.A. is not working well. You libs are funny as hell right now. Anything that even looks like Reps are'nt in control you go nuts...Republicnas are still in control.

"Not surprising since the Travis County state's attorney has been gunning for him."

Tell me....isn't this a Grand Jury indictment? Isn't it the Grand Jury, not the DA, that determines if there is enough evidence to proceed with an indictment?
