Teacher Says Board Effort on Evolution Was Resisted

HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 27 - Science teachers at the high school in Dover repeatedly resisted the school board's efforts to force them to teach creationism on equal footing with evolution in biology class, according to a former teacher who is among those challenging the board in a landmark trial.

The conflict in Dover grew so heated that in public meetings board members called opponents "atheists," threatened to fire the science teachers and invoked Jesus' crucifixion as a reason to change the curriculum, two witnesses testified on Tuesday.

"We would repeatedly tell them, 'We're not going to balance evolution with creationism. It's an inappropriate request,' " said Bryan Rehm, who once taught physics in Dover and is one of 11 plaintiffs in the suit.

Teachers are such heros!! Especially given that every four years, at the Democratic National Convention, the number one group of people sreaming from the floor are NEA-member teachers. Now that takes raw courage.

If I remember my history correctly --the public education in America began as a means to teach the Bible and mans duty to God. And Horace Mann insisted that the Bible and Christian Principles would allwyas be taught-Just after the
Civil War... Then came the godless Soviet Communists of the
ACLU and the Monkey trial where the enemy did not insist on
teaching Darwinian evolution exclusively --but wanted inclusion. NOW that the government school teaches atheistic humanism and religion/Christianity has become taboo the
enemy argues that it will harm the students to learn ID to
include the theory that is every bit as valid as Darwins attempt to create a universe without God.Seems this can hardly be the United States of America as we have rejected
the foundations of this once great nation. And have neglected the wisdom of our founders.

Since when do the teachers decide what will and will not be taught in the public schools? When has this become a matter of teacher discretion?

It is high time that the PTA and elected school boards reclaim the right and assume the responsibility for setting the curriculum in our taxpayer-funded public schools. Teachers are to teach what we as parents determine it is in the best interest of our children to learn. There is no teacher discretion....period!!!

If I remember my history correctly...

Things change. Slaves are no longer 3/5ths human. Women vote. Whisky is legal (and taxed). We have a standing army.

We take God out of any equation and that will leave only man's corrupt, Satan-directed influence and control. Yikes!

Imagine what this place will be like after God's people are "taken up" / "raptured". Thankfully, by God's grace, I won't be here.
