You can not believe the gall of the Louisiana politician to steal if you haven't lived there. No one is stupid enough to hand the money directly to them. My concern is there are not enough people sent in to act as checks on every dollar spent. It's not good enough to write the check you have to physically go out and follow the money to its end result.

So, it's "environmental racism" in New Orleans, and what is it when white people die as they did in Mississippi and Alabama and...

The issue isn't racist in nature, but economic. I notice that the sign in front of someone's HOME that they OWN in one of the links about Elodia Blanco shows a message telling someone to "move (them) out NOW..."

Most people under a threat that they perceived to threaten their lives and those of their families would move themselves by whatever means possible.

I'm just saying here, the issue if it's "racist" seems to be by those involved alleging victimization. It's still moreoreless waiting around for someone to take care of you, do for you, tell you where to go, how, do what's necessary for you, rather than doing all that yourself/oneself. (Not you, here, not anyone here, just using the "you" in the universal sense.)

To be blunt, it's still a case of some of a certain race demanding that 'white people' take care of them.

The festering corruption in New Orleans is unbelievable. I'll bet this is just the tip of the iceburg, once the FBI starts to dig deeper I am sure the greed and corruption by the elected Democrats will much worse that anyone could ever believe.

What a total waste to restore this area.

These folks look at this thing as winning the lottery. They honestly expect the Feds to shower money on them and in turn they will siphon off most of it to their cronies. I lived there and know exactly what is happening right now and there are people sitting around tables having organisms of greed contemplating the future.

I wonder what happened to the spending money the R&R'd cops were given.

Hmmm....didn't Nagin buy a new house in Dallas rather quickly? Hmmm... wasn't it while his "cops" were getting refreshed from their hard work...?

This too will disappear in Bush's new tone.
Federalism - state issue.

Here is a good quote:

"Compass says that having a city-level homeland security division puts New Orleans ahead of the curve. 'Plus, we have a homeland security director who's on the mayor's staff, so we have individuals out there who are looking for funds on a daily basis.'"

From this link:

http://www.securitymanagement.com/library/001489.html

The article is from 2003.

Also of note:

"Early this year, New Orleans mayor C. Ray Nagin created the position of director for homeland security and public safety, and he appointed Colonel Ebbert to the post. Ebbert is a retired U.S. Marine Corps colonel who formerly served as director of security for Boeing Petroleum Services as well as executive director of the New Orleans Police Foundation, so he brings both private-sector security knowledge and law enforcement know-how to the position."

I'm sure payroll records would be electronically stored off site and retrievable.

Dallas Digs (Nagin Moves to Dallas)

Wonder if he used any city employees to help him move. Maybe William Jefferson, Democrat, Louisiana gave him some tips.

There is never just one cockroach.

Every state and local government payroll should be gone over with a fine toothed-comb right now. I'd expect the same problems with firemen, bus drivers, janitors, administration, etc...

And do Chicago and Detroit at the same time.

did you see Compass' announcement yesterday? Man oh man, he's scared, really scared, or a very sick man, I don't know which. But it can't be a coincidence that this information and his resignation come on the same day.

This is the kind of "under the radar" story I like to follow. The MSM will ignore it for as long as they can

"Chrisy Prissy Shays to investigate".

Oh that sentence hits a nerve.......
I watched Prissy Chrisy on C-Span last night berating a much more accomplished man, Michael Brown.
Chrisy's "aides" boys sitting behind him were an interesting pair....:0)

The day Hurricane Rita hit, Blank-o was on TV announcing that she had asked Bush to have FEMA pay the salaries of cops and city employees in NO and other LA cities, since the local governments were broke ("broken" would be more accurate).

Given the efficiency of the federal bureaucracy, and the mad rush of Congress to give away billions, I wonder how many phantom LA employees and other boondoggles our tax dollars are now funding.

Betcha it's both. If he's smart, he'll do a deal with the Feds real quick...

"Every state and local government payroll should be gone over with a fine toothed-comb right now."

Despite the incompetence of the NOPD and the NO City Auditor not all local gov't payroll clerks are corrupt. You're going a little overboard.

Blanco testifies today...with NO Dems on the committee to provide cover for her..will she cry?

The Pubbies, since they're planning on sending even more taxpayer money down there, had better be on her like a rash. And if the Dems try to cover, nail them, too.

2nd that. Watching the Cincy riots in early 2001, from the perspective of FreeRepublic, made me a confirmed FReeper and perpetual critis of the MSM.
